So Blizzard just removed the gold restriction regarding character transfers. You were able to transfer max 1M gold as a level 60 and now can move max 10M.
I wonder if prices are going to skyrocket with these recent changes on either BMAH or regular AH
Also that change may impact low pop realms, these realms are going to be more dead than ever. Maybe Blizzard is planning on removing further realms or connecting them between each other making a “mega” server. This also lines up with the recent regular AH changes now region wide.
What prevents someone just using the new AH to trade 10M gold by posting some random, grey stackable junk & purchasing it on their home server on a second account? They would lose 5% (500k gold) in AH fees, which I think is less than the gold value of a character transfer?
Presumably you are going to say that you cannot purchase your own auctions. But you can if you have two accounts (which most wealthy gold-makers do anyway)
Pretty sure you can’t purchase random grey items from different servers. Only consumables/mats, and you can’t purchase from specific users, you have to purchase everything lower price till you get to your item.
Yes you can swap your gold through AH with a 5% fee.
It’s pretty simple:
Buy a second WoW account (since you can’t buy your own auctions).
Log on account WoW 1: Buy a junk item which availability is only x1 for couple silver on server A
List the item for the desired amount to swap on server A
Log on to WoW 2 account: Buy the item from server B
Now obviously this method only works with stackable items (which are now all region wide unlike unique items such as gear, mounts, pets, …).
Now when it comes to the BMAH you could use that method to your advantage in some cases.
But now with the recent changes with characters transfers you no longer have to pay fees to BMAH “boosters” to acquire a complete T3 set.
Say you wanted to acquire couple T3 mage pieces on server called Area52 where you didn’t had a level 60 you had 2 options:
Transfer your level 60 mage + 1M from Draenor using character transfer + pay fee to booster so he gives more gold to bid on the items. (max 1M before update)
Transfer your level 60 mage + 10M from Draenor using character transfer and bid yourself on items. (max 10M after update)
Now of course if you already have a level 60 on Area52 you wouldn’t use a character transfer to swap gold over there.
For mats and consumables I’m 90% sure it is how it works. You can’t just purchase the highest priced death root if you haven’t purchased everything below that. For Grey items, they aren’t even region wide.
