Ritual of Doom

Given all the flab in the class tree, I propose the following 1 pointer:

“Expedited Ritual of Doom”

“You empower your ritual such that you sacrifice the lives of all 4 other participants to ensure your own survival, incur no cooldown and automatically enslave the doomguard for 30 minutes. You also receive honour with the Burning Legion faction for killing fellow faction members in this manner.”

Firstly, the trolling potential of this in LFR will be immensely increased. 2ndly, its actually a notable DPS increase, so 5 minutes every hour and going rogue mid fight is unfortunate.

Thirdly, its great for RP. Just think of all the burning legion related rewards you can obtain via this method. After killing fully 100,000 party or raid members in this manner, you should be able to replace Sargeras.

I think this is simply a fantastic idea. Anyone who disagrees with me will be sacrificed to summon a demon.

I understand the poke at the talent tree but honestly there’s no need for that. Mages have several polymorph shapes they can learn only for the looks, Paladins have their prayer spell from the class hall, I see no reason Warlocks couldn’t learn this “better” Ritual of Doom from some fun short questline. Would be pretty cool.

Honestly, I dont mind the talent tree. Its a pure dps class so not having many dps picks in the class tree is fine. Ultimately, what matters is if there are enough consequential choices overall, the playstyle and the performance. Destro currently seems fine. There is certainly room for a new 1 pointer though.

Obviously, the Burning Legion rep is a reach, but the rest of it I would genuinely like.

I think ritual in its current form is fine, though it would be good if it is worth using it in the first place.

Currently the only use I found to it is to sacrifice your gnome teammates.

That’s my #1 argument too, I never ever got to use it so far. I would, but the sacrifice effect is offputting, not to mention you have to enslave it and keep it enslaved, which is hampered if the warlock themselves dies to the spell. And then what happens, the doomguard goes berserk and needs to be killed?

Step one: Soulstone yourself
Step two: Ask your team PLEASE DON’T KILL MY DOOMGUARD!!!
Step three: Beg your team not to kill your Doomguard
Note: Your team will kill your Doomguard before you could enslave, sorry, subjugate it anyway 8 out of 10 times
:person_facepalming:
Step four: Cast Ritual of Doom
Step five: ask your team to click…
Step six: beg your team to click on that :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: doom altar
Step seven: threaten your team no summoning closet, no battlerez with souls stone nor cookies if they refuse to click on that :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: doom altar
Step eight (a): Subjugate
Step eight (b): Rez yourself with your prepeared soulstone if you died and then Subjugate
Step nine: Laugh at the Gnome that died for the Doomguard (bonus points of you use the Warbeast Kraal Dinner Bell toy to feed its corpse to the lil’ raptors)
