RNG is a total stuff up!

I am sorry for the Subject of the post but I have now reached my end. My wife and I have been loyal WoW players for many years. I am even more so. But I have now reached a point where it has become ridiculous.

I have 3 Max lvl chars which I take to do the Warfront patrols to obtain the mounts each time they are up. My wife basically only one with one or two times she also took her alt. Since the warfronts began she has collected almost all the mounts while I have, for both warfronts, only 2 of the mounts drop. Tonight again, we create our normal 2 man group and do the 12 rares. She gets a mount, gear from the rares as well as gear from the world boss. I do exactly what she does and get nothing, only blue pieces of gear I can’t use. I go with my alt, solo the same route, not even blue gear.

Now don’t give me the RNG typical BS, I am sick of hearing the same story, “yeah I know, I also have yet to get the drop” each time a GM contacts me back. How can a person who does more have worse odds? How can someone doing a third of the content have exponentially more “luck”. Where is the so called bad luck protection? Even my sister in law who will not play for weeks on end have had more drops than I. That simply cannot be right.

I have always been pro WoW trying to win back some of my old guildies and help build this great game, but how can I do that if the players who dedicate their time are the ones being punished? It is simply not fair.

Its not fair to be part of groups where drops are awarded to players doing it for the first time while their are others who dedicate hours each day and receive nothing week after week. How should one remain excited to return to the game?

Although you asked not to do this: its RANDOM!
You will always find people who seem to have some super special luck attached and some who feel like they never get anything.

During raids we as a guild surely find the one or other random drop by trash, but its always the same person looting it.
Coming to mounts i feel like I never have luck on farmable drops yet I was the only one in my guild to get the timelost protodrake.
Luck, chance, random stuff. You should know how it works and thats the game.

I have been mass farming the mounts on my 120s and I actually got all the Darkshore drops before I managed to get all the Arathi ones. RNG is a cruel Mistress.

I’m sorry that you have such a bad luck, but… that’s how RNG works. Some people get lucky, some don’t. It’s the very nature of the system.

I’ve had this kind of luck with World Bosses - at the start of BfA, I never got anything beyond gold/AP, despite bonus rolling, but then my luck turned around and the last three Ivus kills on my main got me gear - one time, I even got a piece from the kill and another one from the bonus roll

The only thing you can do here is either give up or accept it and keep trying. Sooner or later your luck should turn around.

Or… Put your wife in front of your computer and have her play your character, while you play hers  Maybe her luck will get your character some drops

P.S. Obviously this last part is a bit of a joke

I don’t think there is true RNG in this game to be honest. My recent experience, i did the timewalking quest on my druid alt because the chances were high to get a useful item since apart from a 400 ilvl cloak everything else would have been an upgrade. Well, guess what i got - yes another cloak. I had 14 slots i could use an upgrade and i get a downgrade for the only slot that i didn’t need.
I refuse to believe that it’s just bad luck, it is more to it.

There is a game where you can count drops (and a class to multiply drops), but thats only possible because its the same rule on every item linked to the type of enemy you are killing.

Stop moaning you greedy pig!

My missus and I also buddy up for the rares. I have ALL the mounts/toys/pets whilst she has maybe half of them.

Does she care? No - because it is all down to luck and she is patient, just shrugs her shoulders and gets on with everything else knowing she will eventually get them all.

It really does come down to it being a chance, not a guarantee.

I understand it’s frustrating not to get loot, not getting what you want, and not getting procs, but I also feel that if loot was more target-able and more guaranteed, I’d much sooner run out of things to chase after.

The carrot keeps us playing, and when something awesome or much wanted does drop, the excitement is in part so exhilarating and the experience so memorable because of the long chase. Things that come easy or predictably aren’t nearly as exciting.

Oh man I have been playing the game for a long time and played in TBC more hardcore and never even seen the Ashes of Alar dropping even tho I have been farming that mount weekly. RNG is RNG, and it was always part of the game.

What i am about to say was discussed on other thread about month ago but saying it here too. I have noticed that longer i am not playing certain character more likely it is to get rare drop when finally doing something with it. So alt that has gathered dust for a while will go to for example Ivus and always gets a drop while character i play regularly is failing to get loot from the stupid tree. My theory is there is normal rng that works all the time (so normally played character either gets things or not) but there might be also some hidden code that gives extra luck for characters that have not been playing/doing content for the while. Sort of like “oh nice to see you for a long time, have an epic, why don’t you stay and play bit more” kind of way.

I know it sounds nuts but this is how it works with me. Also works when main has been parked for a long time.

A friend recently returned to wow and his luck is incredible. I do wonder if it’s coincidence or that they ramp up the chances for returning/least played characters.

Disagree here, the guildie with the most observed luck is also the one with highest active time.
