Although I partially agree with you, RNG is based in a TON of stuff even IRL hobbies. It’s a lot more exciting to be surprised by something than to know you’re definitely going to get it. It’s basic psychology.
Fishing for example being one. Who knows what you’ll catch, big or small.
Thankfully I’m too old these days to participate in the old RNG, or at least I’m not going to grind my brains out attempting to get something at the expense of my mental health.
RNG isn’t going anywhere, unless the human mind stops getting surges of dopamine from it. No matter how cheap it is. I agree with a bad luck protection though, even if it’s 0.1% per an attempt though.
That being said, for the time being, there’s stuff in-game for all types of people, whether it be time based grinding, skill based, or luck based.

I farmed Onyxia for 4 expansions to get one of the weapon appearances that was added in Cataclysm
I saw Onyxia’s mount drop twice before I ever got that weapon
legacy stuff could use some different methods to get definately, but for regular gear in the current expac the ‘will it drop or not?’ rng is both acceptable and enough
droprate could use some tweaking upwards but thats a different discussion
Trinkets are the problem though, some trinkets are so op…
I absolutely understand that. I only JUST managed to get arfus today on my 13th alt.
But yer I’d say Let the horseman’s mount be obtainable by say… 500-1000 candy I don’t know. Like how the noblegarden easter mount has a very low drop chance from the eggs but also buyable from the shop.
