The best way of grinding Flightstones is M+. You get over 100 per run, as long as someone in the group gets some rating increase, which is mostly the case.
Did you read his post?Challenge from a solo perspective…M+ is not solo/queueable.
M+ wasn’t the idea of the OP, and it is 58 + 25 flightstones per M+ dungeon when someone improves his rating.
So does it turn out that having 437+ ilvl on all slots on your main is really taking out a lot of the edge/tedium out of catching up on an alt?
Or is the separation between veteran and champion items really throwing a wrench to the progression via non-player-made content
I haven’t decided yet. On one hand yes because I’ve spent literally half as many flightstones but on the other I haven’t really spent them on items I plan to keep long term, just gradually bumping up my ilvl / being wasteful.
I’ve got 580 atm, as well as the entire blue dragonflight quest chain and 2 campaign chapters left. I think I will from this point on only spend them on items I plan to keep long term, and just spend as I hit 2k on whatever to avoid capping. I’ll be able to make a better judgement of if it’s feasible to do this without the discount in a few weeks. I suspect it is, you just can’t be going around upgrading quest / lfr items to 398 / 424 the moment you get them.
It’s also worth noting that crafted items require zero flightstones.
On this specifically, I think the separation isn’t the problem it’s the largely RNG acquisition methods of weekly champion pieces, I’ve already had one duplicate slot but luckily I only need 4 of the 5 tier slots to be champion for catalyst, the rest can be crafted fine. There’s no wrench yet though, everything is going as predicted. I’ve got 3-4 champion pieces, a plan for crafting, and a steady weekly stream of 2-3 wyrm crests which will be used to either upgrade or make items into 437s. I’m expecting roughly 1 437 a week from now onwards.
How do you get the wyrms outside of M+11-15, if i may ask?
Oh i see. Damn… yes.
Well, when i look at my chars that is not going to happen
Thanks for the explanation.
Why not? May I ask.
Because that requires to not take an item from the vault itself.
there is no wrench .
world content without doing at least lfr ends with 424 veteran/champions gear mix.
and its ok.
then you decide if you want maybe to do easy / casual instanced content aka lfr / mythic+ up to +7 and end up with like 430 by the end of season if you dont buy a single crafted item .
or you want to maybe push a bit harder and do normal / m+ 8-12 ? and end up with mix of champions / hero gear on exactly 437 when season ends.
or if you are dedicated players who does hc raiding and m+15/16 and ends up with 441 itlv by the end of season thx to hero gear.
or if you are super dedicated player who raids mythic do m+20 and ends with 447 itlv.
Realistically if all you do is LFR then there’s nothing to take of any value from the vault except maaaaaaybe the sark cloak / class trinket as they’re champion track items.
Everything else is veteran, meaning they cap out at 424.
wyrm crests .
if you do full lfr clear you can get 3 wyrm crests a week. 12 weeks of such clears and you have 36 wyrm crests allowing you to upgrade 9 items which you can get from researchers weekly / weekly x5x hc dungeons to 437 itlv

wyrm crests .

Yes, that’s literally the point I’m making. There are no items you would take over wyrm crests if all you did was LFR.
Yeah i understand
I got alt and off role projects and i am realistically able to do +4 to +9, depending on the char. And the items from the vaults are big upgrades So i am upgrading veteran and champion gear. But wyrms are not available yet. So i cap out on 424 eventually.
(the chars are now 408-411)

I think once you’re doing keys that give you champion track vaults then yes there’s some decision making to be done, but unless you take wyrms from vaults those items will never get past 424 anyway, and you could use those wyrms to craft 437s. It’s definitely a more case by case basis thing and depends if you care about short term or long term upgrades.
The plan I’ve made for this character is basically as long term as possible, so I don’t really care if I’m giving up upgrades in my vaults.
Yeah i do not have a time schedule either. I think my end goal is being able to do +11-12 at some moment in the season. Especially on my dps that is a far far far away possibility But it might be valueable to discard the vault and upgrade a 424 weapon, for example

Remember next week you get a free enchanted wyrm crest from killing LFR sarkareth for the campaign. That should almost certainly be used to make a weapon alongside 1-2 shadowflame sparks.
Hmm, so you are telling me i made the mistake to do the campaign on my main, instead of on an alt
I will see. I do not have that much time on the side projects. It is fine to me. I am very casual on these chars. I was only wondering how you got wyrms
