Rocket Boots in Arena

…please don’t? Literally no top PvPer is advocating for this, which begs the question - who is?

PS. I understand it was possible in S5, but it was later removed for a good reason. Probably best to stick to that.

Can’t wait for double rogue human shadowdance with rocket boots. Hf dying in 5s.

It was removed for a reason and now they bring it back…sigh. Maybe the developer responsible for this was playing back then as a mere unimportant nitro boots abuser and Blizzard removed it. Now he spent his entire life to learn programming, enter Blizzard and take his revenge.

And I was hoping for removal of PvE gear from arena. This nitro boots change just shows they have no clue what to do with highly-competitive environment and we can’t expect any good decision about arenas.

You know what? It’s time to rework arenas, turn them to sanctuary with a lot of anvils. Arena is going to be Human Engineering contest anyways.

Yet another great change like the tornadoes in s1

  • Nitro Boots effect duration was hotfixed from 5 to 2 seconds after 1 month of S5
  • Nitro Boots were completely removed from arena after S5

Blizzard Post
After several attempts to balance the Nitro Boots ability in the arena, we have decided that we currently do not have an acceptable solution. Until we are able to better balance this ability it has been shut down in the arenas. We fully plan to continue working on this item to ensure that it is still worth the investment made in it and we intend to adjust it in upcoming patches.

Nitro Boots were completely overpowered in arenas, even with 2 second duration. Of course those using it had fun, like any other player having fun being overpowered. Even with everyone picking engineering for Nitro Boots, the effect is still more impactful for some classes and disfavors others. Therefore Nitro Boots heavily impacted balance and were not fit to be in arenas.

We like having the first season be more authentic and a bit of silly fun, and tightening things up in the later seasons when we see how things are playing out.
It gives us room to make each season feel a bit different so PvP doesn’t get stale.
Sorry its not your cup of tea!

I understand, I just disagree.
We talked about rocket boots months ago and its been top-of-mind.
We know they’ll be hugely impactful, but they can be SUPER FUN so we wanted to let 'em ride for at least one season.
Definitely no guarantee they’ll be allowed in later seasons.

Today Blizzard thinks its a silly fun and SUPER FUN thing to add Nitro Boots back. And they consider to allow the full 5sec duration version for more than one season. Their main argument, that it is nostalgic to use Nitro Boots in arena, becomes invalid, once we get the 5 sec duration version during or when stays longer than 1 season. The other argument, that it was “super fun”, is even more invalid. Any broken/overpowered mechanic that was removed could be added with this reason. Arenas should be primarily about competitiveness and balance and not about adding overpowered/unbalanced things, with the aim to make the game silly.
Players can have silly things in unrated content, there is no place a competitive environment. Its unbelievable how out of touch they are. Ask any high rated arena player and noone would argue that its a good, healthy thing to add Nitro Boots in arena. It would really just be silly to add it, but not because its fun, but because its a stupid idea.

I’m not a PvPer but i imagine it must be SUPER FUN to reroll professions every season if you take pvp somewhat seriously

If they truly bring Nitro Boosts back to arena they are indeed fully and totally incompetent and I take back whatever I said in the past to defend Blizzard.

This is just being fully blind.

They need actual PVPers making these changes, not people who push 1k mmr and want to keep mandatory OP cheese ‘because its fun’.

Are there even any PVPers on the ‘council’?
