Rogue class hall mount is now impossible at relevant levels

Ever since SL release, the Hiding in Plain Sight quest is effectively impossible. Since guards are now level 60, even normal ones that don’t see through stealth can spot you at over, what, 20 yards when stealthed. Add to that the fact that none of your utility kit such as distraction or sapping even lands on them anymore? This is absurd.

I just slogged through all of the insufferable time-gating that is Breaching the Tomb to hit an absolutely insurmountable brick wall that is these assassination orders. These quests clearly need to be reevaluated, as right now the only solution is to wait until you reach level 60 to even stand a remote chance of succeeding in any way that would be deemed reasonable.

TL;DR: The rogue class hall mount is Legion content, so it should be doable while still leveled for Legion content; we shouldn’t have to run through Shadowlands and come back for it later to succeed.

You’re level 19. Wait until someone in SW or Orgrimmar realises you’re on the class mount quest. You haven’t got to the difficult bit yet if you think the NPC’s are hard.

Also, good luck with Undercity.

I’m actually level 49, I’m not sure why that fact isn’t reflected in the forums. Personally, being Horde, I dread even trying Ironforge or Stormwind. I don’t see how I could possibly enter the IF AH without being spotted by the guards at the entrance.

The problem I’m facing is that the NPCs aren’t hard, they’re literally impossible unless I wait until I match their level, given that they spot me through my stealth at almost a hunter’s max range away and then proceed to clobber me to death in just four hits. Even if there are no players around, I don’t have enough time to kill my mark before the guards do me in. I can’t even use any tricks to CC or distract them since everything misses on account of the level difference.

P.S. Reposted this under the correct character, I’d switched since I started this thread and forgot to switch back.

P.P.S. Oh, it’s showing my correct level now.

Can’t you just wait until max level to get it done though? It’ll end up being a helluva lot easier that way? I finally got it done at level 120 and I remember it even being a challenge then (mostly because of other players).

I literally did the quest yesterday at lvl 60, it is as easy as getting there and one shotting the NPCs. They got like 3k hp. You can reach 60 in 2 days, why make this harder for yourself?

Of course I could wait until level 60, that’s what I’ve resigned myself to, but that’s not the point. The issue is that Blizz has, albeit unintentionally, made this content unattainable while a player is still pushing a toon through Legion, which no matter how you look at it would be considered poor game design. The fact of the matter is, since this quest is meant to be done at around level 50, it should be designed and implemented to be achievable within that level range; thus, appropriate changes should have been made to accommodate scaling issues with the release of a new expansion.

At this stage Blizz should consider redesigning this quest to use instanced cities like many of the previous quests have used. Sure, you’d lose the whole nail-biting experience of actually sneaking into the enemy faction’s capital cities, but at least they wouldn’t be forcing people to drop the quest entirely and slog through SL before returning to old content for it. Alternatively, if the player running the quest is below 55 or 60 perhaps they could force phase them into a Legion-Chromie-version of the cities, where guards would be scaled to level 50 and only players actively in Legion time-line are present.

Either way, something has to be done about this; I’ve got no choice about it, I’ll have to push my rogue through SL first, but I really hope Blizz does something about this for future aspiring rogues looking to get the mount. In the current state, everyone of them is in for a massive disappointment, especially after spending so much time going through Breaching the Tomb, only to reach this insurmountable obstacle. Had I known I wouldn’t be able to do this quest until lvl 60 anyway, I would have waited until I was lvl 50+ before even doing Breaching the Tomb; would have saved me a lot of trouble to have been able to one-shot everything.

EDIT: spelling and word choices.
