Rogue is outdated

Saw a similar topic on US forum and is so true. Rogue should be like spiderman/predator. In every wow videos or in the books rogue is very fast, stealthy, parkour class. But the gameplay is slower than even some heavy plate armor classes.

  • Sprint is an old concept. It should make u jump higher or able to climb on stuff
  • Double jump should have been a rogue ability, not DH
  • Rogue should have a mid physical ranged spec that use crossbows/guns. In all other games/movies/books that have rogue/thief/assasin class, that class can also be ranged (diablo rogue as well)
  • DH/Monk stole a lot from the rogue tools kit. You should respect more the classic 9 classes not sacrifice them for new ones
  • Rogue should have more parkour abilities
  • Rogue should have some usefull tools for pve groups, not buffs (because it should remain a “selfish” class), but something usefull. Debuffs with poisons maybe? Or at least should be a very good solo target dps class. it should offer something unique

DH stole Chi Torpedo and Leg Sweep from Monks.
DH stole Evasion from Rogues.
DH stole Disengage from Hunters.
DH stole Metamorphosis from Warlocks.

It’s an uninspired, patchwork class that was launched with a 1 button DPS rotation and some utility stolen from everyone else, and some cool lore and animations slapped on top so they could call it “a new class”.

But what did Monks steal from Rogues, exactly?

Grappling Hook looking confused.

I agree. DH as implemented was the worst addition to the game. It stole so much from other classes, not just rogue.

Monk is not like it stole that much, but gameplay was too similar. Energy, combo, squishy but agile. If monk wasnt added, rogue would had more mobility abilities. But sure, i dont mind monk that much as i do DH.

The hook concept is cool. But you lose shadowstep when you get that on outlaw. and half the time is not even working. You cant climb on stuff with it. Its meh.

Except Monk isn’t just Windwalker. Mistweaver & Brewmaster were very unique and original specializations.
Even Windwalker had a lot of unique tools and gameplay elements, such as not having a proper burst cooldown, but instead generating stacks of Tigereye Brew, and having the option to burst twice in a row.

difference is monk is fun. rogue not so much

Thats why I dont really mind about it. Its just 1 spec and it didnt stole that much. DH on the other hand.. they stole everything cool. Dash, double jump, backflip, evasion, even warglaives of azinoth. Rogue/warrior actually used those weapons in tbc and now only DH can transmog them. So stupid.

If you ask me, hero classes should never been added to the game. They added nothing unique. They just stole.

Not true. Rogue is still unique in its own style. But sure, even if that would have been true, it proves my point. Rogue could have been more fun if blizz actually focused on original 9 classes without adding other similar classes.

I agree. Most of Preservation Evoker abilities look and feel like they should belong to Mistweaver.

I’ll agree that rogue feels a bit underwhelming now. Subtlety is almost embarrasingly simple.

I miss the Hemorrhage/Backstab/Rupture playstyle from Cataclysm.

Yep, and devastation to the mage.

Better addition to the game would have been classes like tinker, bard. Something that is not too similar to what we already had. And instead of new classes they could have added new specs. Like necromancer for warlocks. Dark rangers for hunters. Witch Hunter for rogues. Blademaster for warriors. Shadow hunter for shamans. And so on.

Yeah. Its so boring. Got nothing fun attached to it. And a spec like that should never be so simple to play. Its toxic to play with or against it.

I’d love a dumb warrior spec where you just punch things really hard.
Not like Windwalker doing sophisticated martial arts, just like a massive hulking brute hitting things with their fists extremely hard without a single strategic thought, you know?
0 finesse, pure violence.

Never thought about that. Sounds fun

Outlaw give rogue skill for revolver was feel silly.

But I wished new spec give rogue get double revolvers as melee/middle-ranger.
Also give revolver as new weapons. Maybe also hand-crossbows.

Next expansion Blizzard will take all the good ideas for ranged rogue and give them to the new tinker class. :dracthyr_lulmao:

GW2 warrior has an elite skill that grows you in size and makes you disregard your weapon so you just go in there and punch stuff, it’s pretty fun.

Yeah the whole class needs a rework. It’s clear that they don’t know what to do with them.

Rogue has been the most boring class since legion.

Replacing combat with outlaw was the reason why the rogue is no longer my main despite being my main from vanilla to legion.

I feel the same. Rogue night elf was my first character in wow. Its like my class fantasy i chose to play in all games. Agile, stealthy, fast damage. But it was never as boring as it is now in midnight.

Outlaw was such a disgrace. Pirate theme is stupid. And gameplay is wierd and boring. They really need to rework outlaw into a crossbow spec, or just give us back combat.

Sounds good. So thats why they will probably not do it, haha

Not sure if that have that much in common with rogue ranged spec to be fair. Rogue ranged spec will look more like diablo rogue, vayne from league of legends. Tumble, stealthy, small dashes, parkour, small range. It gets in and out of the fights using fast movement and stealthy abilities. Tinker will not play like that.

I think that Rogue’s utility should be something weird that primarily helps themselves but also helps others indirectly. Cataclysm’s version of Honor Among Thieves was a funky thing - more crit for the party, but whenever someone crits, you generate a combo point (with a 2s CD). That sort of thing could be good.

But yes, in general, Rogue really needs a good look-over. It feels as though it’s always last priority to improve, but if it is actually strong, it has to eat a nerf.

That’s just Fury with fist weapon mogs. Incidentally the only Fury I can tolerate.

No bard. They should stick to Warcraft. However, Warcraft TTRPG books had a lot on guns, including pistols and such, instead of only long guns that hunters use.

And why do you think that is? Perhaps multiple years of neglect showing?
