Rogue or feral?

Hi!

I have been struggeling to find a fun main in shadowlands. But after testing some classes I found out that I like the more sneeky ones.

Just want to hear your take on feral vs rogue.
Pros? Cons?

I mostly play battlegrounds and mythic plus.

Any help would be nice.

Cheers

With rogue u can turn around games in bg. Lots of cool stuff u can do. Caping flags/killing flag carrys/stoping healers or just going for kills. My kill record was 30-0 in Av without heals back in the day
No class comes even close to things rogue can do in bg/wpvp
Feral can tank in bear/carry flag/offheal and thats all

Rogue n Feral you both get jumped in BGs. As soon as you open up you will get jumped.

I’d go with Rogues myself.

Thats why you do not engage in team fights as rogue but rather kill off players that are alone ;D.

You never know when another stealther can be lurking.

Well i main a druid in shadowlands and i changed to feral as my main spec some weeks ago, this is what i think… to add that im mainly a PvP player.

Feral for (M+)dungeons/raid, well it can be good, but balance has much higher damage/dps
Feral for 2s/3s, yes, just not vs rogue/mage
Feral in BGS, yes
Feral in RBG’s, can be good, but nearly nobody will take a feral in rated bg’s, they are easy to kill in big teamfights and they can’t ninja cap like a rogue can (well maybe for defending a base but why would you want to do that consistently).

I played assassination rogue in BFA and feral now in SL, i like both but rogue is stronger then feral now (PvP seen). Rogue has always been good in PvP (arena, bg and rbg). But that doesn’t stop me from playing feral. It takes a while to get it in your fingers it’s not as easy like a fire mage or ret pala. But when you got it in your fingers, i think its the most fun druid spec to play. Ferals do actually have some good self healing, but very few defensives. So if you want to stay alive after a mage/rogue burst you gonna have to plan your escape from the moment you get out of prowl.

When shadowlands came out, and sub got buffed and as got nerfed, i switched for a while but i didn’t like the playstyle of a sub rogue and it felt for me that assassination has changed in playstyle a bit. This made me switch in the first place.

So at this point i would say i prefer playing feral over rogue, because it’s more fun to me not because it’s better or stronger.

As a feral, i played kyrian and now night fae, i think kyrian would be the best choice for PvE (that 10 sec of 15/20% more damage every minute) and night fae for PvP because convoke. And no people, convoke for ferals is NOT overpowered, its balanced.

feral pro’s: good burst, good mobility, good cc-ing, off-healing.
feral con’s: easy to kill, weak defensives, temporarily low damage after burst.

I wouldn’t pick either to be honest, if I was thinking of rolling a char just for PVP in it’s current form. Rogues might be good if you like deleting people guarding flags but they are hella squishy. Feral is still good fun but only if you land in a somewhat evenly matched BG but even still we are hella squishy when caught in a stun, which is probably about 80% of the time when unstealthed.

Rogue have more possible setups in arena.

I will just note that if you wanna rbg don’t go feral, everyone will ask if you’re boomie and if you say no they’ll tell you “then sorry” and pass. On the contrary they’re always looking for a sub rogue.

If you only wanna do random bgs, you’ll have fun with both, just know that you won’t be able to upgrade your pvp gear to a meaningful level without rated.

Or just play it smart: get rating easy mode in RBG playing boomie, then buy it for conquest gear that you can use for feral in arena/bg’s.

That’s what I’m doing tbh (plus I like druid as a whole so no problem), but op didn’t mention he’d consider playing a caster at all. Also guardian tank for rbgs works as off-spec obviously.

Yeah that can work too, im just not a fan of sitting on a base all the game. But as guardian you would only need to replace your legendary. You know what legendary for guardian PvP is the best?

Yeah I agree, it’s boring  The only thing I like is running/stalling flags, that’s like my fav mini game, but that’s only for flag maps or sth like Kotmogu with orbs. Not sure about the guardian leggo as I crafted the bis boomie one instead.

Gear-wise it is easier, but tbh if you’re Night Fae druid, with the right soulbind, conduits and talent synergy you can diminish the need for haste in rbgs specifically. I’ve been topping my teams’ damage just fine with no haste and I’m usually not the only boomkin on team. So technically you should “just” need the leggo and weapon.

Rogue is OP, if you wanna be suppa-puppa killer – rogue. Or Boomkin, but Boomkin isn’t feral, yeah? ^^

Only if you can play Druid. It’s probably most difficult class in game. But yeah, on Random BG’s I kill a lot, if flag maps, Switch to bear and my mini game. But, on Arenas or RBG still hard to play feral.

Your comment is a little all over the place, mate, so I don’t necessarily know what you’ve been referring to in the part of my post you highlighted.

Anyway, the haste part was about playing boomie when you first geared your feral spec - which means you didn’t go for haste on gear. I would hardly call boomie hard, it’s one of the most chill specs. Guardian also. The harder ones are resto and feral sure, but it’s no rocket science at the same time. Sub rogue is a dumbed down version of its past self too ofc.

I’d gladly play feral in rbgs but that spot is taken by meta specs in groups that wanna climb. Usually you’d be replacing the rogue and either base sit or ninja cap. But if people can, they will get a rogue instead, esp. on higher rating. They’re more reliable for nuking efc or shutting down healers too.
