I have a rogue and was bored so got all the tanking runes and tried it out. Complete opposite from brain-dead shaman tanking but it was working.
What is not working is perception adn expectation of the fellow sheep.
Every time i tanked WC and SFK i got funny comments before as people thought it is some kind of memery. Got kicked from group couple of times…
Now imagine what happens when i try to get spot in BFD raid… yes!
I am a warlock tank, and i tank together with my rogue friend, every BFD reset since release now and had no problem clearing, our runs are around 30-45min as a chill dadguild.
So i really dont see your problem, you could at least try to explain what you are struggeling with, you apparently got kicked after the run started so people invited you to their groups, so it cannot be that rogue are seen as bad tanks.
i got kicked right after i got invited after the person realized i’m rogue. because rgues cant tank, right?
that is the issue, people are sheep and dont know the game. when i try to get spot in raid as rogue tank i get laugh at.
rogue tanks could be very interesting, in classic with all that cc, even in this phase you can sap one target and keep 1 in permanent gouge
but everyone expects the tank holds w while everyone aoes in sod
Tbh, the way you write your posts calling people sheeps, im more leaning towards you being kicked cause you cant keep a civil tounge.
This is just p1, blizzard is hopefully monitoring how things work out and will look to add runes to help where tanks weakness are in p2, after all rogues and warlocks tanks are something thats never been tried before, we are pretty much beta testing it atm.
It’s also probably due to that rogues are missing a lot of what makes them actual good tanks in this phase, it’s pretty well known by now that a majority of pugs want to minimize wipes and go for optimal specs etc to keep the wipes low since people tend to leave if a raid is struggling.
Easily fixed by joining a guild that knows you want to tank and are fine with it.
I’m afraid this wont change for rogues due to the nature of level phases, there will quickly appear enough over geared over levelled aoe tanks farming the “lower level” instance, so why would a group choose a rogue tank over that.
Now you are just being negative for no reason.
None of us knows what runes will bring with future phases. Other tanks also have threat issues right now.
For all we know fan of knives will be in a future phase, that ability alone might turn rogues into one of the top aoe threat tanks.
even with fan of knives the rogue will remain quite squishy and if it won’t and they’ll change that, i.e. you wont have to use all that CC then it’s just a warrior with slower timed swings, a worse warrior
The problem is perception. I havent seen any rogue tanks yet and i think most people havent. So people probably forgot that rogues have tank spec and just kick you for “trolling” before you can explain.
Tbh you dont really need tank for dungeons. Atleast with priest healer. I ran with 2 rogues (not tank) mage and hunter and just throw PoM around and dps with void plague, shared pain and wand and do competitive damage while PoM dings around and heals everyone. Priests are disgusting kek
I played with a rogue tank in BFD… he legit took 0 damage… the problem is aoe tanking i guess. My hope is that they get Fan of knife in next phase
Kinda hope they dont get fan of knives if im honest. I’d much prefer an ability like crimson tempest or blade rush. Will take what i can get tho.
Main problem is combos dropping on target switching. Will see what they do.
On topic i havent had a problem with tanking in bfd (outside of aoe threat, looking at you geared ret pallys with ds etc), for my guild or pugs when i cant make guild runs.
