Rogue vs Ret paladin

I was levelling my monk lvl 58 in Hellfire Peninsula and Warrior came and ganked me. I gave it some time but he had clearly targeted me. So, I brought my Rogue but Warrior had already gone. I killed a poor warlock because I wouldn’t be able to continue.

Then I guess that Warlock brought a Ret Paladin. He killed me in open world in seconds and I admit I completely neglected all his CDs. But then I met someone else, perhaps the same pala at of the towers. I was trying to kill him and also I was testing my skills but I couldn’t make it.

So, the damage was insane. When I was trying to kite him or hide behind walls so I wouldn’t die, he managed to heal. I was trying to watch his CDs and kite him when he had wings, hand of freedom, bubble, etc. and then when his CDs’ were gone I used my burst with Kidney etc. Sometimes I managed to take him down to 30% but I never made it to finish. He always managed to heal. I think he used that CD to get health to 100% once. Paladin’s CDs are really back very quickly. Most of times I was rather running than doing damage and waiting for his CDs to go my CDs to be ready but it didn’t work. Eventually, I was always out of everything and he could use everything again.

So, at the moment I am really bad :frowning: and don’t know what tactic to use vs paladins  I came here maybe someone else has a few good clues to help me.

Thanks

Rogue vs ret is all about killing him during forbearance, you can easily force BOP with a kidney and dps trinket if you empty enough damage into him. In arena fashion you’d just continually want to reset the fight till you can kill him when your cds are greater to his, its hard to tell and easier to show really oh and if your outlaw/sub then its gonna be even harder since you dont have mortal strike debuff.

Let him pop up all cds, then vanish, wait for cds to go to waste, then nuke him  also Evasion is your friend.

It’s pretty hard if he have his 2 bubbles, damage reduce talent and the shield trinket. Good rets are really hard 2 kill.

It looks like I need to force forbedeance, yes, and wait for anything he popped to expire, and then start damage. It’s such a small window, only 30 secs reduced by time of his current protection and perhaps traits. Of course while I am attacking, he can use damage buffs which is why I had to run because it was essentially a matter of secs my health was next to none! Really frustrating.

EDIT. I found a streamer Pikaboo who is a PvP rogue with very high arena rating. In one of his old streams, I found him duelling some classes, in arena environment. He was duelling a paladin and couldn’t win. Even though he managed to run and hide behind pillars, and reset combat all the time, no matter how hard he hit, the Paladin always managed to get to full health and had his CDs back very soon. After watching this, I personally feel ok that I lose vs pala. I thought my skills were bad. In melee range, Paladins are insane. I think ranges such as Mages kill paladins who don’t have DoTs and cannot do damage in range while this is e.g. Mages '“forte”.

I think in general, the problem is that some classes have abilities with insane healing. Druids and Monks are also in this category. I don’t feel i have major problem with shamans, though.

These are my observations.

Insane healing in same sentence with monk Dd? Did they change something.

It can be said, that Ret current anticlass for rogues. His damage and def abilities is insane, without purge or spellsteal it is hard to kite his freedom without your cooldowns or saving kidney for it (that is not best solution), and also in outdoor or bg he actually have 3 lives (current one, loh, bubble).
