Do rogues not get bored of essentially playing in the first season of Dragonflight already while the rest of us are still playing the previous expansion?
It’s gone on long enough now. Every single season, RMP RMP RMP RMP RMP RMP. All 3 rogue specs need an entire overhaul.
me and 7 friends are already leveling a rogue for the lolz. litterally going to be broken in DF, either i need to be able to make a counter build with feral or its going to be the first time in 18 years that i will change my main. if they wont be able to remove bleeds then its something.
Tbf the rog tree looks pretty broken by default, but we don’t know anything about numbers yet.
For example they might have op utlity, while hitting like a wet noodle, or another class might be broken and just 2shot rogs every 1min. It’s not only about how good your class is in general, but also what the meta is like. If my class is “broken” and rolls over everything, but gets super hardcountered by 1 specific class/spec and that 1 class/spec happens to be represented in 70% of the teams I face, my “op” class might end up being D-Tier in the meta.
Also I think it’s funny when people already post their talent tree predictions about what’s going to be BiS. Sure, it’s fun to speculate, but what if ability X, that noone picks because it’s a really suboptimal path in the class tree, is completely broken and just 2shots people? Again all of this talk is just speculative, we need to wait for alpha/beta, so we can see some numbers.
In general, the direction the new expac is going in looks promising because blizz can finally adjust a class/spec, without having to worry about how the adjustment is gonna affect other classes/specs because they all share the same essences or the conduits are classwide and not tied to the spec. But then again Blizz has proven this ssn, that while they might be able to listen to feedback and not release some new dog system noone asked for and also make the game less time consuming in general, they still do not know a single thing about pvp balance and are MONTHS behind on hotfixes. I mean hpriest was already the best healer last ssn and then they decided to buff it by ~10%… Dunno what they thought was going to happen?
But the problem with tuning always end the same way.
Spec is undertuned
PvE players whine
Gets tuned to the proper PvE level
Terrorizes ladder with the broken tools.
Rogue cannot go live in this form as it’s only a matter of patch that it will dominate.
It really made me worried about DF. All other class talents looked reasonable and classes looked kinda toned down in terms of CDs etc. Imagine Assassination can now Blind → Sap easily due to Shadow Dance. Outlaw can get it too and use Shadow Step for more mobility and also reduce CDs of a whole party.
Restless Blades + Vanish lego made Outlaw the most dominant AWC spec ever and they keep both mechanics making them buffed. This is madness.
The only way I can see CD reduction work is % based stat similar to Haste/Mastery so when someone invests he/she sacrifices other stat that could improve output. Right now cd reduction is insanely broken.
As much as I would love to agree with you entirely, I also agree with Brodan’s take.
These aren’t the days of WotLK where things like Sub and Frost are accepted as PvP specs and left in the dust for PvE while allowed to thrive in their native environments, if something isn’t doing damage, it gets buffed until it does damage; often with zero thought or consideration for the PvP ramifications.
All in all I’m a huge fan of the new talent system, even though I’m sure it’ll be figured out within a month. The ability to throw curveball specs into the mix with (hopefully) their own advantages and disadvantages makes for a more interesting game, but I don’t think that it’s unreasonable for us to take what we see now at face value given the history of the game and Blizzard’s actions.
Wasn’t it like that for a while in Legion? I remember them buffing rogues’ dmg pretty fast when the complaints kept piling up, claiming exactly that. That they were a “CC bot with no damage”, and that was apparently “unacceptable” for the rogue population.
CD Reduction just needs to go entirely, it’s bad for the game.
Ye, but not too long ago (Legion) they separated PvP and PvE entirely and buffed/nerfed classes in PvP only, without affecting PvE. As long as that’s not a thing again, it doesn’t matter if everything else about the game is fine or even done well, balance will be doggo.
Ye, the first season of Legion rogue was r1 viable (because rmp always has to be r1 viable ofc ), but it wasn’t as faceroll or easy; rmp players actually had to put in some work for their rating… imagine that.
Yes. But Rogue HAS to be OP for PvP.
There cannot be Arena without RMP dominating.
Even if Rogue does zero dmg, PvE Fire Mage will still blow ppl up. Imagine them nerfing both Mage and rogue!
Mages will be able to do without rogues just fine if you give them deep freeze and/or some other stun so they can actually kill someone.
Right now fire mage literally can’t play with anything else due to the fact that they need those stuns and frost mage is a complete meme spec and has nothing to do with what frost was supposed to be. It’s just bootleg destro lock now.
And then when mages are self sustainable you can actually start nerfing the interactions between those two classes like putting blind on same Dr with sap and poly or something and let rogue mages play other comps
Lets see, this expansion without that we had, on top ladder and tournaments :
Rogue (all 3 specs) Mage X
Warlock (2 specs) Mage X
Warrior (all 2 DPS specs) Mage X
WW Mage X
DH Mage X when The Hunt was best
Shadow Mage X
Ele Mage X
Feral Mage X
Mage is one of the classes with the most comps already.
Could just tune them differently for PVE and PVP, let them be gigachads in PVE and CC bots for the firemage in PVP, problem solved. “Rogues doing damage” seems to be a meme, but if you have access to tools like duel, long kidney, triple cheap to lock down targets every DR I think its a bit bold to also demand they should be able to kill in said Kidney by themselves. Like, nah man, they shouldn’t.
Or they could, if they lost significant tools in the survivability departement.
Or utility department.
Kidney CD*2, -1 stun…
Many options to chose from, none will be done.
Blizzard prefers too have Rogue (and Mage) be the Onyxia of Arena pvp.
Whenever I see Mages deflecting their OP to Rogues and Rogues doing the same I just imagine the Spiderman meme… all xpac long you tell a Rogue their class is OP they point you to Mage as the enabler of the comp but then you mention Mage and Mage complain how they are just a sheep machine and acktually Rogue is the enabler lol
