Roleplay trend check: Standard Templates

Inspired by similar threads in the past and in no way just another thread to whinge about other people, I bring you this opportunity to make observations about contemporary AD roleplay culture, where we are, where we might be headed and raising the question of whether it has anything to do with where we were.

My observation is that the standard template human woman is smaller than average, pear shaped (having overtaken the hourglass) and has a heart shaped face.

The standard template for TRPs in Stormwind at the moment seem to be:

Somethingforename Somethinglastname
Obtuse Adjective Found In A Thesaurus As A Title

Vaguely Relevant Race and Class Name or More Obtuse Adjectives To Look Smart
of Manipulating Ranks To Look ‘Sleek’

It’s either that or more titles than one can possibly comprehend. I saw ‘former barman’ the other day in the titles of an Illidari and wondered why on Azeroth someone would care about that part of their life to consider it worthy of a title. I can say from experience that most former bar staff are just broken shells that want to forget ever working behind a bar.

It’s also rather common to see contradicting descriptions. So standard template human woman with what you describe, yet also simultaneously toned and muscled and fit.

I’ll see it later when im on there, but okay!

“X’dorei” instead of “x elf”. Same goes for other species that have a name not in English. This thing is eternal.

Before I quit, there was a noticeable number of generic goth gf tattoo/piercing artists, primarily human and velf/helf.

There are new roleplayers who don’t necessarily realise and yes some that should know better but these sort of threads don’t contribute to the community except once more fault find. The community is hit hard enough as it is by SL and blizz scandal etc.

Perhaps the usual the forum crowd could instead offer more good examples than just picking over the bones of the ‘bad’ consistently.

that is also eternal, I’ve seen those combinations for years now.

Also hidden profile.

Not the point. It’s an observation of trends in a neutral sense.

Hardly neutral, seems more another lets point out who shouldn’t do by yours and the usual crowd standards. How about some helpful advice rather than oh noe… another trp title etc is disturbing my bubble.

Such is forum life.

You’re free to be wrong about my intent and I’m free to keep posting.

I’ve seen a lot of people using their TRP OOC or about tabs to put their hot takes and I think it’s a really unflattering trend, ranging from “if you’re a pink-skinned void elf I’m going to take it as an illusion IC as they don’t exist” to “your character is not as old as you claim they are.”

Also if you have something important to say, say it on a character that people might recognise. You have 900+ pets, you’re not a newcomer or outsider so miss me with that, please and thank you.

Edit: LMAO the alt poster deleted themselves. Oopsie.
I stand corrected.

it’s just another of those completely useless white noise information things people have put in their RP profiles since forever
