I think I’m right in saying that the patch appears on the ground the instant I cast RoP and stays there even if I cancel the cast. Presumably the increased damage doesn’t occur then tho, right?
It doesn’t appear for me until I finish the cast. Anyway no, you won’t get anything from it that way. Look for RoP among your buffs.
Ok thanks. By the way, this is the auto cast when I pop Combustion I’m talking about here: I haven’t checked for normal RoP cast yet I don’t think but I guess it would be the same.
Combustion is instant, so I don’t know what cast there is to cancel. You press Combustion, RoP spawns, behaving as if you had cast it normally.
When I pop Combustion an RoP cast automatically begins and patch spawns, but I can cancel the RoP cast. Oh wait. I’ve put an RoP cast into my Combustion macro I think.
Yeah that’s a waste. Also, at least in PvE you generally cast Combustion while you’re already casting something else. It can be pressed during a cast, just like Fire Blast.
Yes I know that’s a waste and I knew Combustion was off the gcd but I hadn’t thought of casting it while casting something else: well not since I came back anyway. Before I left at start of this xpac (i.e last xpac) I followed the rotation on the Altered Time discord (I think that’s its name) so may have used this then if it was in that rotation (so long ago I don’t remember now). Not sure is this is the way of doing it in PvP tho. I mean my fear about this is that maybe it opens you up to being fire locked during your burst, which would be a disaster. I did used to do this in bgs tho and rarely if ever got locked on my cast into Combustion to be fair.
remove it from PvP builds is what I say (:
