"He prayed his prayer and he swore his oath,
And he raised his hand to the sky;
But the beat of hoofs smote on his ear,
And the steady tread drew nigh.
Who is it rides by night, by night,
Over the moonlit road?
And what is the spur that keeps the pace,
What is the galling goad?"
A terrible year has passed by. A capital city put to the torch, another left a blighted ruin. A sovereign king murdered on his very throne, and an old god broken free of his prison. Our very faction was nearly split apart at the gates of Orgrimmar, if not for the actions of one brave old orc.
As our faction reels in the aftermath of the recent events and many of us prepare to face the forces of darkness once more, we are left contemplating our situation: What’s next? What will become of the Horde? What -should- the Horde be about?
_Maybe none of us knows the answer to those questions. Maybe none of us will. _
One thing I know for certain. The Horde was found as a means for our people, different, distant and disagreeing as they may be, to survive against the onslaught of evil- Be it the actions of the Alliance, demons, or the scourge. And while the cost has always been great, the Horde has stood the test of time. I have no doubts that we will get through this crisis, as well.
The losses that we’ve accumulated over the years rear their head after each great calamity, but while many find the taste bitter, I find it sweet.
The Hallow’s end reminds us all of the great losses all of us have endured over the years- And how they have made us stronger. Decades, the Horde has stood strong against the horrors of the world that despises us for no other reason save for the audacity that we didn’t simply lay down and die before them.
We all share the burden of memory, which is ours to bear to never let the past sacrifices and heroics be forgotten. That is our service for those that are no longer here with us, and for our new allies, to teach them what the Horde is about.
For that reason, I, Herbert Scarecrow, invite you all to celebrate the Hallow’s end in the annual Hallowed Ball, 31st of October, at the eight toll of the bell in the evening in Sepulcher, Silverpine. Together, we shall sing songs in memory of the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for the Horde, celebrate our great victories and new allies, and dance away into the night!
There will be fun and activities held for one and all, including:
- Speeches!
- Entertainment!
- Eat and drink as much as you will!
- Games with lucrative rewards!
- Contests!
- The grand Hallowed Ballroom dancing.
All members of the Horde, as well as our closest allies, are invited to dance away the night, rekindle old friendships and acquiatances, or to simply enjoy the reprieve of the evening looking at the amazing costume galore of this year, and remembering what it means to be part of the Horde.
Be there or be dead!
For the Horde!
OOC:
Whatsup everybody! It’s ya boi Boush/Atahalni/Shenshugoki, and I’m happy to announce that I am once more running this now SEVEN year old tradition and I am happy to invite ALL Horde roleplayers, communities, guilds and guildless alike, to take part into the festivities!
As usual, I’m next going to offer some additional OOC information for both those that are familiar with the event, as well as those who are going to attend for the first time in their lives!
What sort of event is this?
The Hallowed Ball is an annual Hallow’s end themed masquerade and ballroom dancing event that has been going on for the last seven years. It centers around one evening of celebration based on the Hallow’s end, which is there to promote mixing different RP genres and communities together, meet new and exciting people as well as old friends, and most importantly, TO HAVE FUN!
There’s a lot of activities one can take part in, such as:
- Speeches & traditional performance that begin the evening!
- Strength contest and costume contest!
- The final ballroom dancing contest.
…or simply partake in the social and Random RP (which often seems to be the most popular thing of the event, as intended!). The event itself encourages interaction between ALL kinds of roleplayers, both rookies and veterans, friends and foes, to promote a server-wide roleplay feeling for all!
Hey! I remember this event back from the Shatar EU RP server!
Indeed, the event was held traditionally in that server, and I am from the Shatar EU myself. The event was hosted by a forsaken guild called “The Spine”, and was always a big social boomer of the year. The original idea belongs to a Forsaken player called Teorius.
However, when I moved to Argent Dawn, I didn’t want to let such a blooming event to die off, and I decided to introduce it to Argent Dawn as well. Since then, it has been a big success every year!
Who can attend? Is there a dress code? What about different races
EVERYONE is invited to attend! The sole reason for this event to exist is to serve Argent Dawn’s Horde Community as a social gathering RP event, where people can have a jolly good time and interact with others, both old and new people, and develop RP plots and whatever they wish!
There is no dress code, yet if you want to get into the mood of a masquerade ball or win some of the prices and fame we’ll have, you might want to dress your character up, but it is –not- mandatory!
While you might expect that only the more “civilized” types of races would attend an event like this this, all races are equally invited and have a presence in the party, and many of the most clever and amazing costumes often come from these people! In the previous years, the contests alone have been won by players ranging from tauren to goblin, elves to trolls, and forsaken to orcs! It’s a social event in the WoW calendar, everybody’s welcome!
When and where?
31st of October, Sepulcher, Silverpine Forest. 20:00 server time forwards, !!!WARMODE OFF!!!
Very well Herbert, thanks for the Invite! Is there anything I can do to help you/contact you?
Yes, you can. You can reach me on ANY of these characters when I am online:
HĂ«rbert
Boush
Atahalni
Hokimä
Pavoka
Alternatively, you can reach me via the Battletag: AleksiS#2698
If you wish to help me, I can always use people for performance roles, or if they want to bring their own stalls and/or act the role of barmaid or barkeeper, all ideas and help is welcome! We’re usually ran with a small skeleton crew, but if people wish to hold their own stalls and alike, I’m more than happy to accommodate such concepts, even strongly encourage them!
Also, here is the price list for competitions. (Subject to change)
Strength game: 3000 gold for the winner.
Costume contest: 3rd 2000 gold, 2nd 3000 gold, and winner 4000 gold!
3rd best Dancing pair: 1000 gold each. 2nd best Dancing pair: 2000 gold each. 1st place: 3000 gold each!
Additionally, the winners of the said competitions will also be listed in this thread as the champions of the strength contest, ballroom dancing or costume contest! This is obviously the main price for RP, as you can make cool brags or reactions about winning the contests in this annual-all-time-favorite event!
In addition, if you wish to donate any sort of price such as art commissions, gold, or just bring food/toys for the event to put up disco balls or fireworks, you are more than welcome, even encouraged to do so. Please contact me beforehand if you’d like to have more info regarding this!
With that, I think everything is covered! Hope to see you there, and enjoy your time!
If you have any general questions or concerns or feedback, feel free to either PM them to me or share them in this thread!
