RP on Argent Dawn: Is it dead or alive?

I’ve been wandering around in Stormwind, checking in on Astranaar. Even looked in Orgrimmar and Silvermoon over the last couple of weeks.

I’ve never seen any of these places so empty before, almost completely deserted.

What happened? Is it just phasing, or is everyone gone?

Phasing i think due to treasure goblins, but rp has been on the decline in recent years regardless.

Can’t speak for cities, as my guild(s) are usually out and about. We run into people plenty.
But yeah, like it was said. Little bit of column A, little bit of column B type of situation.

RP is very much alive, especially on Alliance. The sharding in major cities has, however, made those places impossible for RP. Check the surrounding zones.

As the others have said, there’s currently phasing in Orgrimmar and Stormwind, which will probably last until next week’s weekly reset.

The other places however, I’m afraid are in their natural state.

Lots of us use Duskwood and Redridge at the moment. I know Redridge has been paaaaacked.

Can confirm Duskwood and Redridge have been PACKED since the Goblin sharding came in, it’s good to see really… Hopefully people get out of Stormwind more and EXPLORE

Lakeshire seemed indeed packed when I visited it the other night. Had the pleasure of meeting a couple new interesting characters there!

With Astranaar people come and go, some nights might be rather empty, and on others players might suddenly appear in numbers only to scatter quickly again.

There is still plenty of RP.
Sure it’s not the same as years ago - but WoW in general had a decline in playerbase. Thus RP playerbase has proportionally shrunk.

I believe RP standards diluted and simply it is more insular than in the past though.

It’s Schrodinger’s RP. It is simultaneously dead and alive.

Returning once again for a RP fix… xD Nice to see some old familiar names and to know there’s still RP to be found. See you soon!

Ashenvale is rarely populated before 8 pm. Night elves, you know. Their penchant for being nocturnal and all half translates to the players that play them ^^

Quite alive, just currently afflicted with the curse of phasing.

It goes up and down a little bit, sometimes there’s little to do, and sometimes there is a lot to do. There are large server events still, too, such as the Redridge and Northrend tournaments. Only large RP-PvP events seem to be a thing of the past.

it’s not what it used to be but, if you go out of your way to really look for it (the forums got a couple of posts about RPer gathering spots) you’ll find it

The Rotgarde roleplays MOSTLY around Lordaeron (Brill, Sepulcher, Tarren Mill and the occasional patrol into the plaguelands)

As others have said above, it certainly varies, but it’s very much alive.

I think that these days, on the whole, you have to go out of your way a bit more and dig deeper than you used to have to before (even when sharding issues don’t persist), but I’ve had plenty of ad-hoc interactions which always feel great.

The other night my character got talking to someone he met in the queue for an outhouse after some drinks, and after both had used the facilities, they wound up going for a walk, learning more of one another along the way. This wound up developing into a full-blown adventure as they were accosted by bandits who attempted to turn them over to a group of cultists as human (vulpera?) sacrifices. It was pretty neat as these were all unrelated groups of players coming together through coincidence.

This is obviously a rare occurrence and most RP tends to happen within guilds. But it’s chance encounters like this that keep me coming back.

Bro we don’t need to know what you get up to concerning outhouses and the ‘need’ to RP taking a leak after multiple drinks for ‘immersion’.
:skull:

If they had the self-awareness to turn ON sharding, at some point soon I’m sure it’ll be switched off again. Even OOCers might find it a bit frustrating on their servers, i.e if you wanted to meet up with friends/guildies but keep having to form groups every time.

That being said the most we can do is shout loud enough and hope Blizz eventually catches on lol… Annoying how they don’t seem to remember or consider we exist at all anymore but eh.

It did give me an opportunity to take some enjoyment from other RP hubs and I’ve had a great time! I don’t often RP in Stormwind anyway but it’s a nice, easy option - especially for certain char types, like merchants or guilds who want to use buildings. So I don’t think people are being overly whingy by being upset. It’s understandable around an xpac launch, -even- for RP servers I’d wager - at least for the first few days or launch week. Over an event related to a separate game where things may only get laggy once every hour for about 5mins? Come on…
