Greatly enjoying the campaign so far, with some lovely sportsmanship from the Horde and so many familiar faces to quickly turn into nemeses. Very impressed by the clever use of in-game effects to show off your strategies and keep things fresh.

And big props to Skabb for throwing out an interesting hook in the middle of tonight’s battle! It was really exciting to see a genuine narrative hook in the middle of all that healing, even if it did get me chased half-way across the battlefield by four angry Hordies.

After a savage but unsuccessful assault on the Stormfeather Outpost, with Alliance troops desperately defending the rooftop from attempts to drop barrels of alchemical explosive, their enemies have fallen back to Jintha’alor to lick their wounds.

Pressing the initiative, the next night Alliance soldiers brought the fight to them, in a massive effort to distract the main portion of the Horde force. Meanwhile, fliers fought a risky but essential battle to destroy catapults and ballistae on the upper levels, with the intention of depriving the troll tribes of their ability to fire down upon the attackers in the course of their intended siege.

In the upper levels of Jintha’alor, concerned commanders among the tribes and Horde forces have been conferring quietly about less conventional means to defend their ancient city…

After deliberation and agreed counsel, the Alliance forces in Loch Modan sought about enacting an assault on the disfigured dam.
As the forces began to marshall, the Horde savagely ambushed the alliance forces. The vanguard was accosted with precision, and the Grunts of the thirteenth flanked behind, crippling the ability of the rangers.

Holding as long as they could, and with all the ability they could muster, they managed to survive the onslaught and deter the Horde by battle fatigue. Wounded but not defeated, rumour of an artefact unearthed at the excavation site to the south-east was pursued; Vindicator Polemus took a force of heavily armed soldiers to ensure its retrieval, but the Horde too had sent well-armed soldiers, and in the end the Horde claimed an object of interest, soon returning to the dam to ensure its safety.

The aftermath of the days bloody conflict leaves the Alliance command in Loch Modan with much to deliberate and options that may weigh with difficulty on their souls…

Tonight, greasy orange smoke billows above the ancient city of Jintha’alor, visible from Aerie Peak and beyond.

With the previous night’s assault successful, and the majority of the ballistae and catapults scattered across the upper levels of the ancient ruin blown apart or burnt, the Alliance have seized their moment, capturing several of the lower levels of Jintha’alor through vigorous, unforgiving pushes up bottlenecked stairs, and quick use of siege ladders.

In response to being pushed to the upper tiers, in a pre-meditated move, the tribes have ignited some foul-smelling alchemical substance, the conflagration swiftly spreading across the entire level, separating the Alliance to the lower levels — to their great chagrin. Howling and banging at their drums, the city is alive with screams and taunts day and night, the trolls glaring a baleful gaze down at the siegers below…
