DHs are hell to face as a caster. They can pretty much lock you out of 80% the game by the sheer fact of targeting you.
I both agree and disagree there. Legion’s pruning was bad, but the core issue is what happened afterwards: this weird ability arms race where Blizzard began to dish out interrupts, slow-ignoring movement abilities and cooldowns en-masse. Consider this; even if you slow a warrior they basically can ignore it and catch up to you anyways.
I remember going back from Pandaria and earlier certain classes had signature moves that defined them. Rogue’s short-CD kick, sprint, priest’s fear, DK’s grip. Nowadays it’s a complete utter mess where a class is more defined by what they DON’T have.
And in this sense I feel Blizzard has concentrated far more on filling the gaps where melee were weak, than making caster gameplay more enjoyable. How many melee movement / root ignore / grip / hostage spells were added, versus how much interrupt resistance? Heck, with the nerfing of priest focused will and removal of inner fire they made them MORE weak to melee.
I would rather they removed half of all stun, interrupt, CC, burst cooldown and movement abilities and replaced them with more intriguing class mechanisms.
The problen is that PvE players want mobility for M+ and it’s usually in class tree. Imo the only solution I can think of is reducing some classes mobility and compensate with let’s say engineering item or swiftness potions but then they will cry that x class needs to buy them and y doesn’t.
The same issue is there for interrupts. The reason every single class (except priests) got it is because interrupting mobs/bosses became a mainstain regular mythic+ / raid tactics piece.
Well, if in past you had to choose between stormbolt - double time or impending victory now you get all 3 on top of bounding stride with defensive stance, which was a choice too. Blademaster’s torment for higher bladestorm uptime and unhinged during bladestorm. Spear is here too. Spec got all the mobility from past tree and even more.
Bold of you to assume we´re paying attention to our own healthbars, how can i do that while staring at my targets healthbar n the dpsmeter?
Jokes aside, yes its alot harder to play caster, Casters are also far more teamcomp reliant to be enabled by either playing with a melee that offers good peels or a caster triangle comp. Frost mage is both easy and very strong in solo shuffle atm though. Out of all casters i think mages as a whole are best suited for solo shuffle due to being the only caster in the game still capable of actually kiting a melee where as i´ll sit on any other caster like gorilla glue!

I do think DK alongside every other melee in the entire game has far too many gapclosers and CC, whenever i play caster im far more frustrated by warriors than dk´s though but that might also be vietnam flashbacks to SL zugzug fury in 9/10 lobbies.
God how i hate fury warriors…
Biggest problem for me is Dh and assa. To much dmg and way to much mobility.

Then I see some mages with 200 rounds at 2,8k, feels great hahahs
just depends what class you have most xp on i found it easier to climb on my mage than dk and i play my mage maybe one time per month also lobbys matter a lot if you want to break 2k as arcane mage you just have to pick the target with least defensives and go full on burst drag enemys behind pillars etc because if you kite right you should never really die unless you face a hunter dont waste time on polymorph unless you know your 2nd dps wont break it drag enemy dps behind pillar and polymorph them and then 3v2 the enemy etc.
That matters obviously the most, just talking about a new player perspective that wants to push rated.
I try my best to do that every round, for me the hardest on arcane is to do consistent dmg, when you get trained. What should I do just arcane explosion, into barrage?
nah you need to fake cast arcane missles to get precog proc and use arcane orb when they stack your goes should be with presence of mind and touch of the magi you then use shifting powers to reset these 45 second cds you have a go basically every 32 seconds and you can get lucky with arcane surge procs or use arcane surge before you do this set up you dont have to cast to get charges you only need to cast to get precog so you can get your arcane missle procs off or land a sheep.
if you get radiant spark off before you do this go also you can arcane explosion to get stacks and your last arcane barrage or blast will do 40% more damage.
depending on what you face your opener is stealth mass invis ring of frost or arcane surge depends if you got a third player to cc the healer for you touch of the magi arcane blast arcane blast missile procs etc you should get all major cds with this opener.
just make a macro with touch of magi and presence of mind in it and then use that as like your frozen orb or combustion go and use arcane barrage when they drop below 35% hp arcane surge is important to get off but it does not matter which target you arcane surge you just want the buff.
I should use Shifting power more, always forget that.
So I will put that now in order.

Opener:
Invis, mass Invis, ring of frost, (sheep healer), arcane surge & touch of magi & presents of mind macro, missel (cancel), 2x blast, barrage.
If I get trained:
Get 4 charges, fake for precog, sheep someting, use burst, shifting power. What do I do now for 32s? Get 4 charges, fake, sheep and cast blast?
ye you ring of frost because the ring is invisible if casted from mass invisibility but if you have a hunter on your team you can just go ahead and cast arcane surge from stealth.
touch of the magi gives you 4 charges so you dont need to get 4 charges to do stuff just use arcane barrage for the speed buff and arcane orbs to get cahrges again for another barrage or use some arcane missle procs.
You can also play ring of fire for that downtime and you just use it to kite untill your next go also remember to use counterspell before you use shifting powers as it resets counterspell.
believe it or not just blink counterspell a penance from disc priest is enough to win games atm with how high burst is so just look for stuff like that when your other dps is training a target.
