I have recently installed wow again on my brand new computer I have built. This is my spec, i7-9700k, 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz, RTX 2080.
My problems is that my CPU is hovering around 20-25% usage when in game and hectic raidbosses, and my GPU is sitting around 0-0,5% max. I have all the latest drivers installed, checked both in-game setting and nvidia control panel settings, but found no reason why it’s using none of my GPU power.
The problem is frustrating because my game drops down to 1-2 fps when alot of stuff happens on for example the Jaina Proudmore encounter.
Any solution to the problem?
Right-click WoW.exe and check in settings (or search “graphics settings” in windows) if for some reason it’s marked to use the iGPU instead of GPU (system default / powersaving GPU instead of the high performance GPU of the system). Check if your display is connected to the Nvidia and not to the motherboard display output
Does any other games or benchmark use the Nvidia card correctly? What results userbenchmark gets you?
Hey Cripyy,
Bigkeg above here has some great steps for you to go through. Do let us know if that did not help out though, so we can have a closer look into this with you.
Have a few seconds to spare? Let me know how I’m doing!
I found out the problem with the low fps, that was caused by an addon constantly pushing out lua errors during the encounter. I have checked all of these settings previously and wow is using my RTX 2080, both in Windows settings, and in the Nvidia control panel. I have also tried reinstalled the Nvidia drivers.
The GPU is still running at 0-0,5%, unless I’m in loading screen, then it can bump up to 10%
Did we ever finda solution to this? I’m literally having the same issue.
RTX 2080, drivers fine etc but 0% GPU usage in BFA while in Classic I can get it to 100% usage.
Hey Zlee!
This is a very old thread and by posting in this one you’re resurrecting it to the front page, which is something we’d like to avoid as it was likely regarding a specific and now outdated issue.
As was hinted at previously, it’s possible WoW BFA is set to use your integrated graphics card instead of your dedicated RTX 2080 card. This is mostly an issue with laptops but can happen on other types of computers as well. This is usually controlled through either power management settings or graphic drivers settings. You can read more about power management settings here. Please contact the manufacturer for assistance with your dedicated graphics card and drivers.
