RU region - new ghetto?

Can anyone explain how to continue playing for people from the RU region? You cannot pay for game time (you have to buy it on the black market or many people are “given” tokens by friends from other regions), you cannot bind an authenticator. The only way out is to create a new account via VPN and specify a different country? It would be nice to hear feedback from BLIZZ

Russia is still under Embargo. Don’t expect the situation to change untill Russia does.

Blizzard can only comment that they’re executing the embargo due official sanctions and cannot assist you with bypassing.

There are plenty of tips and I see you’ve found a few to continue to play should you wish.

wow eu just lost …15% ? of its playerbase

It’s very easy to change account country (or create new one with VPN) and buy timecards codes on some websites. Or ask friends from different countries to log into account and pay. I did this for my friend couple of times.

I would not be so sure. All my friends who played are still playing. For sure there is a decrease of players, but far far away from complete gone.

Same as with the Chinese players. Wait for a better future (literally).

China has its issues due to NetEase/Blizzard Managers. Russia due to Politics and Sanctions.

In the case with the Russian players there is nothing Blizzard can do. Helping players of that region to circumvent the embargos/sanctions would be right next to federal treason. And no one of the company would be willing to lend a hand for something as so unimportant than this game with those hefty punishments. It’s just not worth it.

BB, we won’t miss you. Ps. Poor arguments, but I understand you frustration

Grow up, companies are legally restricted from trading with a country under sanctions. This is literally no fault of Blizzard.

Sucks for you, blame Putin.

Russia is currently under sanctions and will remain so for the forseeable future as well as belarus .if you are from russia then tough luck .if you are from other countries closer to russia you can buy either wow 60 days gamecard from 3rd parry or from blizzard europe directly .

those who assault other countries and commiting crimes should not play games anyway

Or a worse one.

If Trump wins in a few months (scarely possible) then the embargo will likely go (from America at any rate, and as Bliz is American that applies to them and they’ll be free to allow RU players again - they might choose not to but I suspect they’d let them back).

Hypothetically if america lifts the ban but eu keeps it then the ban will remain as blizzard would still be obliged to keep russia out of eu operated operations .

Did they get rid of the US servers then?

I wonder when I attacked other countries and what crimes I committed? )

I suppose in that theoretical case Blizzard, as an American company, will still be able to operate in Russia if they create a Russian subsidiary or make a Russian company operate in their name, in both cases directly under Blizzard USA.

Have nothing to contribute, but I can offer you a song:
