Blood Surge: get a barrel out of some sunken ship. Whatever.
Kill Griffin. K.
Kill Spiders. Sure.
Infiltrate a fortress packed to the brim with disgusting, stinky dwarves that are so densely placed that it’s downright impossible to traverse them solo without corpse walking a couple of times. Why? Who hurt you blizzard devs? Get a hobby instead of making these awful quests.
This isn’t recreating the classic “feeling” this is awful game design. I don’t even want to begin to imagine what uninspired, braindead, meticulous and just down right awful chore this anti-consumer company makes others classes do.
Only thing I can tell you is the game isn’t going in the right direction for you, return to the realm that that once made you happy. That’s the easiest way to tell blizzard that SoD is heading in the wrong direction and that they need to stay focused on getting and keeping their other games going.
Sounds pretty true to the classic experience to me. I get that you are frustrated, but maybe the solution is to bring a friend. Or a stranger. A lot of the runes are simply impossible to do solo, even at level 40. The dark rider quest chain, for instance. Paladins have a rune that they need to clear SM cathedral to get. Can’t do that solo either.
The complicated, lenghty and sometimes difficult things we have to do to get our runes is part of what makes SoD so good. Just keep your eye on the prize. Imagine how much more satisfying it will be to finally get that rune after you really had to struggle for it.
It might be annoying to hear when you are frustrated, but it might help to take a small break. Adjust your expectations to the reality of the situation etc. Then go and do what you have to do to get what you want.
Good luck.
Rouge obtaining shadowstep as an alliance player, having to pay warlocks to get summons back and forth to SM and then handing the quest in only to be greeted with nothing but no, I have to travel all the way back to the city to trigger the mailbox to then return back to where I was in a horde occupied area? SFK. if not using summoners or friends which are way to busy doing their own thing currently, purely using flying/running from iron forge all the way to SFK and SM back and forth 3 times, takes a good 2 hours of travelling in order to get. Very tedious indeed but I did it only to be given a bugged shadowstep which doesn’t work as intended and they won’t fix it.
