I had an idea for a new rune for elemental shaman. An overload totem that would give other casters a chance to proc the overload for their spells. Might help with the struggling caster DPS and also be a good reason to bring a ele sham.
Also just cool and fun for all Spellcasters in the same way Melee love windfury. What do you think?

Very powerful and dangerous to add but useful definitely. they can make overload proc from totem deals 30% of the damage of original spell or they might get a cooldown but
Instead they will give bladestorm to warriors so they can kill 1vs4 with one button
It is world of warriors from 23 November 2004 so…
They meme about warriors and they promised they wont be godlike and they made them even better in SOD, classic blizzard
So i dont think they will add something powerful for casters especially for all casters
Personally, i think new shaman runes should make a lot of the current Totems into cooldowns instead.
Stoneskin = reduces dmg taken by x% for y seconds.
mana spring = reduces mana cost of spells by x% for y seconds.
You get the idea, totems are more fun when they have an impact when you press them.

Warriors aren’t godlike in sod. Top DPS? Cool, garbage at everything else currently.
Top dps phase1 means (warrior should be very bad normally), in phase2 even warriors will create nerf topics because they will oneshot everybody with gnomeregan gear. They will qq about why everybody dies oneshot, where is balance.
But please lets focus shaman rune suggestion, I dont want to destroy his topic.

This is a cool idea. But I think it’s too far from the classic totems. The Devs wouldn’t do this.
But a windfury for spells seems really classic like and just fun. Maybe will breach the gap a little between Melee and caster.
Would also be super cool in PvP. Paladins are op so would even them out I think.
Could be a little op if not tuned right though.
Always love that kind of logic with sod, demon form warlock tanks, rogue tanks… shaman tanks… void using priests… but yeah slightly better totems is too far!
Fair point haha.
Yeah more impactful totems but with cooldowns would be really cool.

I think more power in totems is exactly vanilla themed.
Basically apply wind fury to casters right?

Rune of Prepping the Bull: Deal 50% less damage for 60 seconds, but buff the damage of warriors in your group by 100% for 10 seconds. Costs 80% of your maximum mana.
How about a totem that makes all spell casts reduce the cooldown of all your other spells by 1 second per cast. Buffs every caster without giving mages the chance to double pyro somebody’s face late game.

The only problem I have with this is that it only helps casters on Horde side, the casters on Alliance will still struggle.
Overall an interesting idea though.
Well, since paladins were massively buffed; all Alliance melee > Horde melee by a long mile. Giving Horde stronger casters would even the scales a little.

Any buff to shamans has that mate, don’t think too hard about it.
Fair enough, but solo players might start rerolling Horde if they want to play caster. Having totems for raid to buff your DPS and the superior Horde racials.
We’ve already seen to what extent people are willing to go for those parses. In a level 25 raid mind you.
people roll alliance for paladins
people roll horde for shamans
nothing new here
facepalm

My reply is exactly responding to your latest reply with the context in mind.
Get over the difference between shaman vs paladin, its a dead horse so brutally minced into the floor you cannot tell what is horse and what is earth.
The question will still be if the DPS gained from shaman buffs is enough to make up for the DPS lost from bringing a shaman if all we’re going to get is runes that buff other classes.
