Rune of Power changes

Rune of Power has been reworked to cast at your location when you use one of either Combustion, Arcane Power, or Icy Veins, depending on your spec

Does this mean rune is going from 2 charges, 45sec cd to once every 2mins/3mins?! Thats an insane nerf! Or is it an extra Rune for free with your cds??

My guess was that it’s just going to use a rune charge if you have one, and not use the charge if you don’t have it/aren’t specced into RoP.

I’ll ask someone who has the beta to test it, if the changes do go out in next build.

Casting combustion creates a rune of power on the ground for 15secs…

It’s dead… unless it works with the combustion leggo.

Should work. It works from random AP procs from vision of perfection and Time Anomaly.
I personally really like it. Reduces set up time, makes other talent options viable in both lvl 30 and lvl 50 tier and also makes it viable in PvP.

Yh I can see being really strong in pvp tbf

It does work with the leggo on shadowlands beta for now. Not sure if that’s even intended or not. I’m hoping we get some kind of compensation buff because it seems like mages are balanced to hit like wet noodles without RoP.
Outside of arcane, mage changes really blow. Hope we gonna get some revisits.

I get the feeling with ptr going live these were the last changes they were waiting to get done. Might just be balancing from here on in.

Would love just to see the best of both worlds here. Keep Rune of Power, but add the rework, so we can keep our windows of mini bursts etc. Just give us the best of both worlds. Let it be an active ability and let it be cast on CD.

If this change makes us play one of the other two talents in that row and they tune us around that, I’ll personally be pleased. Never liked that talent anyways. But, if it still sims higher when they leave it that way… I am not going to be too happy about that. We keep the annoying movement restriction part of the rune of power, while taking away the setting up burst part I kinda enjoyed about the talent.

TL;DR: Not gonna happen. Ever. Too many CDs, all stacking with each other. People can be dumb and/or lie but math isn’t and doesn’t, using percentage buffs together always beats using each individually, so Rune will either be removed, nerfed HARD, or it stays as go-to talent because it’s too strong not to use unless there is a lot of movement predicted. And if you play the more mobile specs, it’s not like you have a reason not to take Rune anyway.

Ye but it has been nerfed hard. Outside of procs off leggos or time anomaly it’s a 15 buff every 2m/3m. Huuuge nerf.

I think its part of making mages less bursty, like as we see it currently.

If you mean fire mage, that bursty build is doa when all the borrowed power from bfa goes, ignite changes don’t help either.

Your priest is now great just wait its amazing honestly feels so good don’t judge it until you’ve played it two void forms is awesome.

Also the fire mage is usually bad at the beggining of the expansion depending on how crit scales
