Hey guys question
Can you run normal dungeons to get enough ilvl to advance to heroic dungeons, I can’t be bothered with questing.
At max level yes, that is the intended path.
At the moment you basically can’t since you get 554 ilvl from normal dungeons while the requirement for heroic is 567 ilvl. For the queue, of course. You can just walk in the dungeon on any ilvl when you go to the entrance.
Actually no; Normal dungeons drop 558 ilvl gear (iirc).
They’ve screwed up. There’s other ways to get better gear, but normal dungeons are not the way (unless you have even lower stuff).
Oh, my bad, I assumed the game worked as intended. What was I thinking lol.
They havent ‘screwed up’. There isnt some rule that says the way to progress gear is normal to hc.
OP if you have rep you can get 3×584 items from vendors. Boe’s on the ah are very very cheap. World quests and bountiful delves can also give an ilevel bump. Rares also offer decent gear.

Well, it’s very counter-intuitive at the very least. 
Fully agree. The worst thing is that you cannot upgrade normal dungeon drops, as they are even below the Explorer track. Even WQs reward people with Explorer gear, I cannot understand why they made the decision to only have 554 gear drop in dungeons.
I believe there should not be any itemisation outside of the tiered reward track at max level, with the exception of green world drops maybe. Ideally, drops would be something along the lines of:
- Normal dungeons: Explorer
- Heroic dungeons: Adventurer
- LFR: Veteran
- M0-M5: Veteran - Champion
Normal dungeons really have no raison d’être for anyone at max level. Once you reach 80 you will be so much weaker that you will want to grab some gear from weekly events and quests, as well as bountiful delves. This will bring your item level up to the 551 required for heroic dungeons, at which point you will just start doing those instead of bothering with normal dungeons that do not drop endgame relevant gear.
This new reward track is severely flawed IMO.

Personally I think it’s great you are not forced into just one route of gearing. When you first hit 80 you do what is available to you and then you can get into the next thing.
That is a good way for it to work. Multiple sources.
If you do farm dungeons in normal, and also get the rep gear which I think is three 584 items? You should just get into heroic.
It’s pretty stupid. On an alt I had to pay to win on the AH to get the ilevel and even then had to run a few normals to get the upgrade mats so I could upgrade some gear to get the 567 requirement.
Seems like there’s no point grinding normals alone, cause you can’t even upgrade the gear. So buy better gear off AH and grind normals for the mats to upgrade a few pieces to get to the ilevel needed. Seems weird to me
It was de-facto rule for a long time.
That was your first mistake. Trusting it to work. That’s hard for the Billion Dollar Indie Company.

As alt u can buy 3 pieces of 584 ilvl from vendors, while u level main i bet have some warbound trinkets, weapons or gear in bank . any world quest with gear will give u nice upgrade not to mention doing weekly events as Theather, Arathi can drop 584 ilvl weapon or gear in chest. Also a lot green boes prob u got on main while pickup trash from mobs , so really cant understand what is p2w lol
