I have a question. Is there any way to improve performance beyond setting 3 (recommended was 5) I don’t need answers ‘don’t play on a Mac’, I know I’m worse off but I use Apple for everything and 2 PC’s is not an option. I just want an optimal experience on this iMac
I’m playing WoW on a 2019 iMac with the following specs:
I don’t play the game on native 5K resolution but I seem to have a bit of a FR problem. My settings are around 3 but seems to get stuck around 50-60 frames and I would’ve expected it to run at a higher setting (5 is the recommended settings but frames are low then).
The game settings are as follows:
General
Texture res: high
Spell density: dynamic
Projected textures: enabled
Turn ground clutter and environment detail to 1. These are really just bushes and rocks that you won’t miss. Makes doing many quests easier also as objects aren’t hidden behind a rock.
What resolution are you running the game at? 5k gaming is not a thing yet, so I understand not running it at the native resolution. In games in general, resolution is the biggest resource hog. Just for an experiment’s sake, I would try running it at 1440p, just to see what happens.
With these specs you should be able to run the game at max settings, with maybe the CPU being a slight bottleneck if you have too many addons installed. Your GPU is smashing my 1050Ti and I run the game on highest settings at 60fps at 1080p*
*I play on a 23" monitor. Tried playing on bigger ones and I simply can’t. It’s too big, I lose sight of the corners of the screen XD
You can’t go above 60fps if you enable vsync option.
I myself use 2019 iMac (The VEGA 48 version). When Blizzard released SL, I start playing the game in Windows by using bootcamp. It is much smoother than running the game in macOS.
