Rustbolt Lag

I turn my settings down to lowest possible setting and still as I enter the center or move around in rushbolt… My FPS tanks to early 2000s…

I generally play with high settings @ 1440p and hover around 100 fps.

I turn my settings down to 1, lowest possible option… And still lagging/stutttering as i turn and run around

Is this on my end or is most suffering this lag in Rustbolt?

What hardware are you running?

CPU - i7 6700k - default clock
MOBO - ASUS X99-II
RAM -32GB 2666mhz DDR4
GPU - ASUS ROG Strix 1070 O8G - Default clock

I have a mix of medium/high settings, more on high side.

The moment I approach Rustbolt and get to center, my FPS tanks below 30 and moving the game ‘stutters’ basically regardless of the settings. Once i leave th every edge of rushbolt, my fps jumps back to normal.

The time spent getting dailies or using tinkerer to craft stuff is awful with the fps and stuttering.

I have the same issue. Today i noticed it for the first time. Everywhere else i get around 100 fps. Only in the center of Rustbolt it drops to 30-40 fps.
Im using graphic preset 7.

CPU i5-6600k
GPU Nvidia 1070 Founders edition

Maybe pixel fill rate is flooded by some effect or storage problems? Hard to tell. You could run userbenchmark - once before running WoW and then while the game is running and you are in Rustbolt with this problem active. Post both links.

This “benchmark” has a handy feature as it shows percentile performance for each component - vs other users using same component. So if during this problem percentile of the storage or GPU drops to like ~1 percentile then it will indicate what’s the nature of the problem.

I have same issue man and i noticed this happened after the latest patch update 4 or 3 days ago… I lag in rustbolt, most of nazjatar some dungeons like mechagon workshop… this is really annoying i turnedoff addons reduced settings to the lowest still same problem…we want fix please blizzard

Can confirm. Did a quick test and it does happen. 1920X, Vega 64, 3440x1440 mode 7, 32GB RAM 3200MHz quad channel, NVMe SSD:

Entrance to Great Seal:

Average framerate : 104.7 FPS
1% low framerate : 87.6 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 77.7 FPS

And around 140 FPS in more GPU bound scenario when flying down to the port.

Rustbolt:

Average framerate : 56.9 FPS
1% low framerate : 51.3 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 49.6 FPS

GPU load seems higher but it’s not capped.

Looking at ProcessExplorer in Rustbolt there is some constant I/O activity (which I rarely see in WoW, like when racing around Dalaran):

  • Dazar: https://i.imgur.com/JXBaSxP.jpg

Looking at frame timeline in Radeon GPU Profiler there is ~double wavefronts and double threads when compared to Great Seal (and the framerate is half so somewhat matches):

  • Dazar: https://i.imgur.com/Fsb7W6V.png

On the frame overview only shaded pixels count doubles+:

Something is not quite right there, goes YOLO with rendering something.

I have the same issue when I’m in Rustbolt; Anywhere else within Mechagon seems to work fine.

Computer specs:
i9-9900k
Nvidia RTX 2080TI
32GB 3200mhz ram

Nvidia driver version: 446.14 (Latest)
Windows 10 version: 2004 (May 2020 update)

Yeah, same issue here… and actually same system specs as Katzina

9900k and 2080ti…

Something doesn’t sound right…

I went into mechagon today to do 850rep quest and fps was stable. I havn’t changed anything in my hardware, no new driver/win updates.

i.imgur(dot)com/0KCzzPS.jpg, yesterday i would get ~60fps in exact same place.

How is it for you guys?

Seems to be fixed, Doesn’t go below 90 FPS for me.

Crowded Dazar alor 100 fps / Rustbolt 30 fps
Tho i got fps drop when 8.3 went live .Dungeons fps also significantly lower since 8.3.
Had better fps during Legion with 650ti dx9 than now with 960 dx12

It got worse for me i used to get 45-46 fps, now it went to 34-35

Hm… If it’s the same code/mini-patch then it’s odd, maybe GPU VRAM/pixel fill rate gets clobbered (Vega with HBM is quite resilient to this). Try also “check for update” in BNet/deleting cache and then maybe trying without any addons/clean WTF folder.

Can you run say userbenchmark before the game and while in Rustbolt? If GPU percentile drops to ~0 (or storage?) then it will be a hint. Also HwInfo could show something on the sensors (lots of traffic on the PCIe bus, activity on GPU VRAM etc.)

I have not received any client-side update for June 8. You guys had a patch?

There can be a mini-patches on reset or even at whatever point in time.

Well it seems it got fixed for me as for right now everything is back to normal no more fps drops… Thank you for your help friend

So, just confirming, you guys all got a patch for June 8th right? Because if it’s just a hotfix on Blizz’s side, then I’m afraid nothing has changed for me :weary:

Seems to be fixed for me as well, it was not a client patch tho^^

What hardware do you have?
