They do not function like wow specs which is even funnier that u made this comparison lol.
Non of these have anything in common lol, not even resource bar. This was the biggest grasp of straws i have ever seen ngl

But they do, they are bound to 1 role and donât have any variety like subclasses to them.
Of course they are not similar, first is a tank and other is mdd, proto warrior and arms warrior donât have similarities in gameplay too besides resource bar but if Iâll start to seek similarities in jobs of the same role in FFXIV weâll come to conclusion that they are all homogenized
Thats a nice way to twist 1 character able to have multiple classes (something blizzard should do ngl).
so we really gonna look past them having multiple of the same abilities such as shockwave, battle shout, charge, intimidating shout, thunderbolt, heroic leap, intervene, impending victory, etc?
One is a tank class, the other is a DPS class. In XIV it wasnât redundant, in WoW it would 100% be. We already have like five melee DPS specs, among plate users alone, that use swords. When sam came out, XIV didnât have any melee DPS job that used swords.
Sure, they could design the most basic and boring rotation ever, with a sprinkle of pink petals here and there, and call it Samurai, so XIV fans would pop their eyes and keep shouting âMidare setsugekkaâ in voice chat, but why?
Samurai donât even exist in WoW.
I can understand if weâre asking more oriental flavour in weapons and armours, more Pandaria cosmetics and so on, but why would somebody need a samurai class in WoW? How would it be made unique compared to all the other similar ones? You make it build tsuba charges instead of rage and the big spender makes a gong sound? Whatâs the point?
Even if for some reason you want to make a samurai-like warrior, there is absolutely no reason why you couldnât do it with a warrior, be it for RP purposes or class mechanics.
we already have plate, mail, leather hero class
now is time for CLOTH class
necromancer?? psychic??? blood mage??? ;)??
Itâs not a âtwistâ, itâs literally what it is, ffxiv jobs canât be called full-fledged classes compared to wow. Their progression is fully streamlined, they donât have much going on besides of their set of skills (talent trees for example), they are literally wow specs.
And no, wow thrives with alt creation, there is so much personality to wow races that itâll be crime to allow switching, and how would you do it with death knight, demon hunter, or even more simple things like paladin to warlock and reverse.
So just because they have similar set of mobility and utility skills they are similar in gameplay or I canât catch your line of thought? FFXIV has ârole skillsâ too by the way.
Blademasters
They still donât have another dps sword user lol.
Neither did evokers or dracthyr race.
Yâall need to learn thereâs a difference between chinese dynasty armor and japanese shogun.
man so much personality in that panda, mechagnome or hell even the furry foxes.
Leave em as it is, unique classes for unique races and let them learn the mainstream classes
they are angry all the time, it doesnât matter what you say kids in here ,
They always take it to themselves
The burning blade orc clan blade master is basically a monk with a samurai look.
The WoW team only needs to allow monks to use two-handed swords as attack weapons and you have one.
Can you be a tsundere for me?
Blademasters are highly inspired and designed after Samurais. Mainly due to the fact that Samwise Didier (who designed them) was/is very much into those types of movies.
Get yo weeb poop out of here
Says the guy playing a heavily weeb inspired raceâŚ
I didnât mean to imply otherwise, if thatâs what youâre thinking.
Youâll have to agree that we didnât already have classes even remotely similar to evokers, in which the evoker fantasy could already fit.
Yâall need to learn that China and Japan donât exist in WoW, and as much of an influence real life cultures have on the gameâs lore, such explicit references should be avoided whenever possible, especially since the game already accomodates some specific fantasies through âgenericâ classes. Want to play samurai, blademaster, knight, barbarian? Play warrior. Want to play ninja, spy, pirate, swashbuckler? Play rogue.
We donât need a new class for every possible variation.
We get a new class every half a century, we donât have bards, tinkers, spellbreakers and so on, and weâre here discussing a fourth warrior spec that already exists.
Samurai class never.
NEVER BAKA!
Aww, youâre so cute. pat head
Still isnât changing that theyâre out of place and their class playstyle does not fit the norm of wow.
Pandaria is literally based on chinese fantasy, the monk class are also literally based on kung fu.
We got Paladins which the literal name is a titlefor a person fighting for a cause as a knight of a king, Hell even in DnD Paladins are sub warrior classes this logic that theyâre unique and samurai is just a warrior sub class is dumb asf
Was about to get mad at the Kung Fu part, but you didnt add the ââPandaââ part to it. Samwise made the first ââPandarenââ when his daughter was born.

)
And I wouldnt say just ââChinese fantasyââ, Iâd say Chinese Mythology and Legends.
