Hello, having some real trouble with the second boss in SD this week both keys have been 12’s.
Group comp -
Tank Druid
Dps enh Sham
Dps monk
Dps Hunter
Healer Sham
I’ve been trying to save cd’s for when castigate coincides with the add aoe. We have killed the boss but after several failed attempts, as you’ll see from the timer being 30 mins gone.
We needed lust and prideful to down the boss, but without either of these and around 5-6k hps I just couldn’t keep the group alive.
Is there something we’re missing? Other than the boss being super strong if we don’t have any way of dropping the castigate, FD, vanish etc.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! This boss is a nightmare on tyrannical.
We seem to need loads of luck with castigate if the enh shaman gets two in a row she’s dead unless I blow a group cd on her, link/ascend/mana tide legendary I don’t seem to do so badly with shift and Earth ele conduit.
Looks like maybe we will have to shift the group comp in the future, I was hoping this wouldn’t become an issue at high-ish (but still low keys in FOTM/ mdi terms).
One thing I can suggest is rotating dps cooldowns on adds, not blow them all at the start. It’ll probably prolong the fight, but might become a lot more manageable. Just a wild guess, I haven’t done +12 yet since I only pug.
Thanks for the replies, looks like we’re doing nothing much wrong tactic wise and just need more dps on the adds and will have to make sure we get prideful just before the boss!
This boss is just a crazy gear and/or group composition check. I was doing the dungeon last week (it was fortified, but on a +14), and everything went flawless until that cursed fight. But then, during the add-castigate overlap, our resto druid was just instantly flopping when getting targetted by that channel. We lost our entire timer, couldn’t get it down even with hero+prideful and gave up around that point.
The adds are super dangerous. Put em down quick enough and you’ll be fine. It’s going to be really hard to do so for high keys, but that’s how it is with tyrannical weeks.
This boss is just way stronger than any other boss in Shadowlands dungeons.
It’s really not on par with the rest, and the amout of AOE on such small corridors doesn’t help.
All i spotted in that boss is that the add must die instantly and above all nobody must get hit by that moving blood/AoE/Red thing because that debuff will kill you if his mechanic will target you.
Having shamans/druuds will help since the debuff is a curse and must be instantly dispelled.
Ench shamans are ok, not everybody has to play the op/meta class/spec to please the metaslaves.
It is quite a hard boss, and you don’t exactly have the best comp for it.
Has FD and feign so with the worst possible RNG he can solo 3 castigates, and if it is cast less often than every 30s, then he can solo every.
Can realistically solo close to 2 if he takes magic defensive talent (and karma for one), but would probably still need some healing.
Has a medium cooldown wall as only defensive and are definitely the weakpoints in this composition, gonna need some healing for one and major healing for others.
That being said you need to save ankh for the boss, in case you get it multiple times.
Assuming you have decent damage and not terrible RNG with castigates this fight should be doable. Your movement needs to be tight though and add needs to never be in the pools on the floor, you can’t have any melee downtime on it with your comp.
Castigates are dangerous, but by far the most dangerous part of the fight is the add, so you need to blast it, even save mini cooldowns (fists, double tap, whirling punch).
You could save major CDs for adds, problem is that while adds are super dangerous, there is a balance to be struck between killing them fast enough, but also killing the boss quick enough to not get overwhelmed.
Also save link for a bit later in the fight for a nasty add.
And on the same note as the ankh, save CRs for this boss.
Most importantly, go into this fight with lust and prideful, and you should be fine.
While i think he was memeing, his point is definitely not bad.
While enh shamans are overall ok, their biggest weakness is their defence, which this boss will punish to the extreme.
So bringing an enh shaman to this fight is literally running the risk of just having 1 less dps.
