Travel time is the issue here. You never notice it as a Warlock as you’ve attacks that hits instantly regardless of the range they’re applied from. The best example I can use is Fire Mage. Fire Blast hits instantly and Phoenix Flames takes some time to reach the target. And due to the natural latency, a cap can be completed in the time it takes for the projectile to travel there. It’s a solution that solves nothing as it’s dependent on you have a latency that can be counted in the low milliseconds.
If you stand on the flag. You deserve to lose it. Stand far enough so the rogue can’t sap-cap. Smoke bomb doesnt last the full cap duration. So generally rogues might place smoke bomb and start capping to bait a player to run closer so they can sap-cap. If you trinket sap, expect to get a full blind on the cap.
I dont play wl in bgs i play rogue and mage, and i can not cap the flag when the defender is standing 30y away from the flag. Its not milliseconds that matter in random bgs, if you can not sap the target and IMMEDIATELY start capping, the flagcap will not go through because sap/blind dont last long enough even with spells that have travel time.
This is gonna be my last reply in this thread. There have now been around 5-10 people that explained to you a very easy fix to your problem but all you do is just hammering home your own (wrong) points. So gl in defending flags in the future
If you stand 30+ yards away you can easily prevent rogues from capping. The only rogue spec that can cap regardless of range is outlaw with hook(+conduit/talent)->sap->cap.
Mage Spec?
Fire has Fire Blast which hits install.
Frost has Ice Lance which has short travel time.
Never assume that just because you’ve no issues others are free of them as well.
Even with two it’s not a 100%, as it can depend on the class/spec of second defender.
