Because them joining horde never made sense to begin with. Joining with the Undead (that this even happend doesnt make sense) that killed 90% of the elven population? Lets not forget the trolls, diffrent tribe, still trolls.

Undead who were previously lordaeronian who tried to perform “operation human shield” with them. Literally the same orcs that tried to wipe them out during the invasion. But yeah lets join that team because we hate them humans from Lordaeron and the Night elves for keeping tabs on us.
Srsly go to turtle if you area high elf purist. The edgy elves make total sense on the Horde and accusing Darkspear of being elf killers sounds a bit racist.

It is canon because Blizzard wanted it that way. They even added Dark Rangers and Nightborne. Being against non alliance elves is so 2007 issue.

But game has been out for 20, and BEs joined 18 years ago. When i use words like always… i actually mean it! =)
Blizzard didn’t go far enough to make the non elves of the Horde plausible to the community. Because that would have required for the alliance to lose their domination over most of the world.
