Save the social aspect of the game!

For the last few days I’ve been paying close attention to the discussion about incoming WotLK changes, especially concerning the automated tools that came with the original expansion. I have to say, that the arguments presented by people opposing such features sound very convincing.

First of all, why bring new feature, if there already exist a tool for that? Using global channels is a thing that already works – countless people connect daily using them. Yes, there are inconveniences, but one thing is certain – it does work.

Second thing is player interaction. One of the posters here summed this up really good: “Automating systems that encourge players not to bother to interact with each other because they no longer need to is bad for the games community. Period. The game from the ground up was built to faciliate co-operation and when you remove that it ceases to exist.” Each time a player uses automated tool instead of talking with others, the community and social aspect of the game suffers.

Finally, there is an argument about world exploration. If the tool allows You to do the thing You want from any major city, there is no incentive to go beyond its borders. The world quickly becomes a barren wasteland, even with thousands of people online. This surely isn’t the MMO experience.

I believe that after reading all this all of You will agree with me: AUCTION HOUSE needs to be removed form the game. There already is a perfectly working trade chat that many people use daily to connect with others, offering goods and services, negotiating prices etc. AH takes all that away. Also, it limits peoples trade activates to capital cities, mostly two for each faction. If we remove it, people would have an incentive to travel the world to meet each other for trade.

If You care about the social aspect of the game, please do everything You can to convince Blizzard to remove this completely nonessential feature, that harms the community, from incoming WotLK classic!

Thanks for the replay, but this is completly off-topic. The post is about the Aucion House, not Dungeon Finder.

My apologies, I had a different tab open so I thought I was still in a LFD topic. :see_no_evil:

I am absolutely for this, I made dozens of friends in Warframe by just standing around in hub with my trade window above my head … I logged into warframe after maybe a year or two of not playing and instantly got message “hey got that prime reciever you wanted” …

Now you cant even see names of people, so you cant even whisp them if they want bulks and interact with them directly … this thing needs to go …

You should know, you are one of the people creating yet another thread about LFD when there’s atleast 20 of them.

Please, keep the discussion on topic. This is serious, We can make real change. They removed Dungeon Finder, We still can make them remove AH too - same reasoning applies to both conveniency features. They removed disenchant button*, We can make them remove armour/weapon vellums too - all for the sake of player interaction.

Not to make a useless post: I want to add, that AH promotes toxic behaviour – I’ve seen many complains about ah scammers. And there are people who automate this already automated feature even more with addons like TSM!

*edit: i mean the disenchant button in need/greed roll menu, wowhead reported it will be removed.

Brilliant. No, seriously, this is genius. If I were a social player who values interaction, I’d give you a heart with all my alts (all one of them), but alas, I’m a retail zoomer who wants to automate everything, so no hearts for you.

I totally agree! Remove Auction House Blizzard and show us that you really care for social interaction. If someone whats to easily buy and sell without talking to anyone he can do that in Retail… And dont tell us that AH was part of WotLK… LFG was also part of it!

And now that we are at it, remove heirlooms too. Those people with heirloom dont need to look for gear so dont need to do dungeons or interact with a crafter for crafted gear. It certainly removes a lot of social interactions too.

Or… admitt that you dont care for social interactions and that you only care to avoid bleed more players from your joke game retain into classic…
