Scammed in a gold swap

Probably not the first one, and certainly no the last one.
I was scammed by someone impersonating a reputable trader in WoW Market discord for a gold trade from Kazzak to Twisting Nether.
In my account you can see his name and also he wrote part one of the deal.
I am not hoping that I will get back my 1.26 mil (maybe a 1% chance) but I do hope y IP ban this guy forever.

You’ll need to report this type scam into a ticket to get it investigated so that the GM’s may take any action.

Blizzard does not do IP bans, imagine the problems if it were to hit an internet cafe or university campus and it can be relatively easily bypassed these days.

Done that already.
Well they can do hardware bans so they can avoid any collateral casualties.

Neither “hardware bans”, nor IP bans are effective.

Plus I am reasonably sure that no, they can’t do hardware bans especially not in Europe, as that would require retrieving your motherboards GUID, which is considered a breach of privacy under anti-tracking laws.

I could be wrong though.

You will not get your gold back and probably the other person will not get banned or even a warning.

Gold trading is not supported, which basically means you do any trade at your own risk.

I personally know people who got suspended for doing similar stuff. Even streamers have got a suspension for similar stuff. You defo don’t get your gold back though.

Good example, I disagree with that time though.

There’s even been people suspended for ninja looting before.

They tend to remove the gold from the person who scammed but don’t give it back to the original owner, As they don’t support trades like that.

Imagine buying a second-hand laptop/PC to find out you can’t log onto WoW because it was hardware banned.
I’m sure there’s other reasons why they won’t do this, but I definitely wouldn’t expect it.
Either way, good luck getting your gold back. I hate scammers.

I’m afraid you won’t get your gold back and I’m not sure the person will get banned. It’s an unsupported transaction and, from what you say, the discussion didn’t take place ingame so they have no access to logs. Keep your ticket open, but don’t be optimistic.

@Baltic

Soda is right tho
If the terms were agreed on by both sides, he still decided to trade Soda 1k gold and then even hit the button to finalize the deal, then it’s his own responsibility.
I mean, really, why would u even hit that button to finalize the deal if u don’t even want it. If you don’t even agree with it?! What the hell?!

And then to top it, he decided to report it and that GM fell for it
Soda did’nt do anything that was in breach of the T.o.S.
thus, by banning Soda, that GM abused his power.

Yeah , As I said I didn’t agree with the gm in that case but it shows they do get involved.

@Baltic,

It just makes me kinda sick that there are people that have certain powers (like Blizzard Game Masters) abuse it. But i guess you’ll always have that kind of people. I hope that Soda’s ban got lifted and got some compensation for it.

As for the GM in question (which, i won’t mention the name from)…
Fire him may be abit too much but i hope that Blizzard at least pointed out the mistake(s) that GM made to the GM in question. It’s the least they can do.

What’s even the point of scamming people out of their gold if Blizzard will ban your account afterwards (can’t touch that gold anymore)?

I swear scammers are so st00pid.
