Scammer never dying

So there’s a guy stealing money off of people buying his ‘boost’ (he spamms in /2 until someone falls in). Guess that’s what you get for buying boost anyway so…

But what upsets me so much is that this guy is always around in game (changing toon name but always same /2 boost message). I don’t understand how Blizzard deals with those scammers because I keep receiving mails in my ingame mailbox saying ‘Thanks for reporting blablabla…’ from Blizzard.

So what comes to my mind is that those rats keep creating new accounts so they can keep on scamming people and they just immediatly spend the gold scammed or hide it somewhere…

Why can’t Blizzard IP/Hardware ban them so we get rid of em?

It’s basically the same case with bots, they just never die!

the actual gold/boost selling community is so big blizzard could never fully ban them.
its a never ending battle but just keep doing what your doing and report those people and blizz will take action since you also have gotten the thanks for reporting mails so you know action is taken

That’s why you should only buy boosts from known communities and never from single players. Communities will never scam you.

Well the thing here is that the scammer is basically impersonating those boosting communities (I’m pretty sure he’d get banned on the discord server if he was caught scamming people under their banner).

You can easily bypass both of it. IP banns are literally solved by restarting the router. Hardware banns while more annoying are also easily bypassed.

Does Blizzard ever bother to track movement of gold of these accounts?

e.g. seeing it transferred between 4 accounts, which was used to buy an expensive mount of millions worth… delete that mount, remove the gold.

if they banned the farming/boosting/botters the game would be dead.

That’s what I wonder too, what if they spend all of it on the auction house? Will Blizzard delete the gold for the guy who received the gold from his sell?

I don’t think Blizzard bother tracking the gold since banns are prolly automated (high amount traded + lots of reports = automated ban)

There are a lot of people making money by scamming in /2. Let them be, they are poor losers from 3rd world countries, let them have their money. They need to buy food FFS.

You are better than them (their master).

Even Blizzard Customer Support on the website is now almost automated and you get pre-made answers… If you want Human contact you need to ping them on Twitter.

This. There are few known communities, and they never scam.

It does suck some people get scammed not knowing how to find boosts but wanting some, but not really blizzard’s problem as this is basically getting scammed. Sure they can punish the scammer, but can’t get you your gold back.

You can’t get a new IP-address by simply resetting your router.
Only in some cases a provider gives you a new IP-address if you turn your MODEM off for 2-48 hours, this was the case with my provider like 10-15 years ago, this doesn’t work anymore for me but might for others.

The other way is by calling up your provider and ask for an IP-address change but whether they’ll go through with that depends entirely on your ISP.

Easily bypassed? That depends, do you have a new computer lying around everytime you get hardware banned?

If Blizzard has a catalogue of device identifiers with ALL the hardware you have in your computer when you are hardware banned, you using the same GPU or RAM in your new computer could lead you to get banned as well.

So it’s not that easy, the safest bet is to have a completely new computer with hardware you haven’t used already.

Unless its this NOVA “community”

Scammers and Spammers. As soon as I see the word NOVA in Tradechat, I go on a spam-report rampage

I call this the “natural selection” of WoW.

If you’re incapable of playing the game and you need someone else to do it for you, serves you right.

There was system on certain private server, where you couldn’t type wts arena in any way possible, you could add . , ? or whatever, you got autimatically kicked for 5 minutes.

I don’t think there are boosting communities for private servers

They definitely could at least scare them off to where it wouldn’t really be a thing anymore. The only way to do that would be pretty unfair and ridiculously unpopular though, you’d have to start with a massive ban wave of people who were doing something not against ToS right now, which is probably not something blizzard will ever do.

So like 80% of players are bots and boosters? #doubt

Well I do not know anything about 80% but we are talking about thousands maybe tens of thousands of players. Of course if you compate that to the actual amount of people that play its stil nothing.
