So WoW had been lagging alot lately so I decided to do a scan and repair. But when it finished, it told me that “Something broke” and that I should “try again”. I pressed OK, and then the play button said “Update”. So now if I press it, it will start scanning again and tell me that something broke again, and it kinda seems looped.
There is a small chance issues like this may be caused by corrupted/damaged cache data for the battle.net itself (the steps here would resolve that), but chances are this may be the result of an overly zealous security program suppressing the scan/update service for the app.
In theory any security program could do this, so disabling/uninstalling any related software for a test would definitely be worth a shot here. Optimizing your general connection stability would also be well advised - similar symptoms can occur as a result of high rates of data packet loss (the scan/update process is a data exchange with our server, which losses could sabotage).
Tried every step in the book. Disabled antivirus, removed cache for Battle. net. Removed and re installed Battle.net. uninstalled and re installed WoW itself. I get update message… run it. Click on OK… And i get the message that something broke.
Kinda thinking its not my system that broke… but yours. Please help
I solved it by uninstalling every WoW variant, then reinstalling was available, and the glitch had stopped. But I am scared to ever hit Scan and Repair again, lol. In a ticket I opened, I was told that other players have reported that too, so Blizzard messed something up probably.
