There’s no mention of how many maintenances or how long the game will be other then that it is necessary to do them as required in the fine print.
That the regular maintenance is weekly does not infer that that will be the only maintenance. For launches it is expected the game gets patched quite a lot as issues crop up to give everyone the best gameplay experiences (like the major AH lag issue that got resolved)
m8 I did not even seen the Announcement because my Launcher was in US English and it did not show. Now I’ve set the Launcher to UK English and I’ve seen it…
But I can not understand why the announcement was not visible if the launcher was set in US English!? All of the words from the announcement have the same meaning in both US and UK english. But yeah…
Also about your statement “to give everyone the best gameplay experiences” … well … you can only have the best gameplay experiences if you are allowed to play!
I understand everything as anyone should or would … but all that I am just saying that is not fair! And there are many people out there that can not play the game in daytime. And we are not to blame that the Developers release Beta content and then they have to do 1001 patches to fix the “game”.
The issue for me is that I do not intend to buy the new expansion for the time being (the frequent bugs have played a big role to my decision this time) so I intended to play the remaining content of previous expansions. I have bought Playing Time for the whole WOW not the last expansion. So, i do wonder what can i do since it seems that they are ALL connected. They should say Buy new expansion time, not WOW time. I have played this game since BC with some coming and goings and this is the first time I see such a shortcoming on a new release. Most of it should have being tested in Beta. I would have preferred to wait a bit, rather than watching my pc go blank for no reason, for me at least.
Yes the “game” released has a lot of bugs and glitches…
I imagine they launched it like this … because many upcomming game titles would have otherwise shifted the focus of many people away from this game, if the game would have had launched later this year.
Also I know of many subscribers that pause paying and playing since the content from Season 4 DF was unexisting. So if Blizzard/Microsoft would have had not rushed the release they would have risked loosing a ton of money.
So I can understand their decision. But releasing a game in this sorry state… is … well… sad.
its better that they listened to the feedback in the beta, there’s stuff i reported months ago in the beta thats still and issue now, they had more than enough time to fix the problems, i think this expansion has to go down as the most buggy in a long time, the whole auction house was a complete disaster, i’m still missing millions in items that disappeared into the auction that im guessing is just gone and ill get nothing back.
That doesn’t change that you’d rather see broken things in the game until a weekly reset, rather than them being fixed on the go, when things are ready to be applied?
I’d say the criticism is somewhat fair, because it’s not like you cannot address software changes without needing long maintenance sessions.
I mean, YouTube doesn’t shut down every week for countless hours so updates can be applied. Neither does Netflix or Amazon or Azure or what have you.
Software changes just gets applied whilst people continue using the software. That’s the case with most live software these days. There’s the occasional client-side updates that needs to be installed, but otherwise it just runs. It would be absurd if companies had to shut down every week for countless hours because Microsoft needed to do maintenance on their software.
WoW is still stuck in its early 2000’s and Blizzard have not really bothered to invest in making it a modern piece of software, hence why we still get to enjoy these maintenance sessions so frequently.
Though some credit where credit is due – Blizzard are able to hotfix more things these days that used to require a client-side patch. So that’s…something.
Brisket m8… we did picked a side… we want quality over quantity.
Canju dear, you are so used with being used and treated unfairly that you came to belive that this is normal. Quite sad. And now you defend this unfair system, with comments like yours. M8 you should raise your standards, both of you.
