Scrap Classic and Focus on retail

Because that is the way forward. We shouldnt be dwelling on the past or trying to focus the already existing limited recourses on an old game with new twists. infact focus efforts in making retail more enjoyable and fun.

Did you ever consider that retail has different teams and has nothing to do with classic?

Both games have different audiences, and different teams. If they cancel classic, they will not put those developers to work on retail, but instead just let them go.

I mean I do not play classic, but some players do. It does not affect me in the least, so why lose all the classic playerbase to the new private servers that are gonna be created?

Well vanilla flavour was the best. until Cataclysm, aptly named it ruined it.

Never really liked Blizzard’s approach to this game. Instead of making an expansion that complimented the previous content. They just bolt a new game on each time. WoW isn’t a well structured MMO, its essentially just made up of different bolt on games.

Just look at the crafting system, just a complete mess.

Even items levels never used to follow on, 58 gear in BC back in the day was much better than vanilla 60 gear.

both have different teams and many people only play classic .so it is not like classic is not bringing them money

Different teams… though after the layoffs unsure. :dracthyr_shrug:

I think Blizzard should analyze what players like about Classic, and try to add some of that to Retail.

I think Retail is bloated with unnecessary class complexity. Most specs have a priority list of over 10 ability cooldowns and procs that one needs to keep track of. Times 2, because one’s for ST and one’s for AoE. The Retail WoW team should take inspiration from Heroes of the Storm, and Overwatch because those games prove that one doesn’t need 30 keybinds to create something that’s fun to play while still providing a high skill-ceiling.

Different teams… even if classic was “cancelled” doesnt mean there would be more resources for retail.

So what a horrible take you have.

They can do that if they make retail a great MMO again. Otherwise they can’t afford to, and I mean that literally. Compared to its cost of operation, Classic brings in an insane amount of money.

It’s different teams. They are all world of warcraft, why do you begrudge others playing older versions of the game?

If the Dev comments are true, there are more Retail players but I don’t know by what margin.

That will never end well. Classic folk are completely way too different than retail. In essence its the complete polar opposites, “water and oil”.
I play retail cause I want to play retail not “classic 2.0”, same as I dont wish classic to get “retailized”.

Howabout the classic players play classic and if they want, retail and retail players play retail and if they want, classic.

Why is there always a “Us vs them” mentality when it comes to basically the same game but one side playing catch up?

I actually really hated this in TBC and it was a quit point for me.

Totally invalidate everything I just did?

Nah im out.

But reading this is fun

In all fairness, that’s because Vanilla-gear was plagued by terrible itemization.

In Vanilla, +crit was a percentage, there was a trinket (“Blackhand’s breadth”, IIRC) that gave a flat +2% crit, BC introduced stat ratings, which allowed stats to decay as we levelled, which in turn introduced the principle of the “Gear reset”.

I agree with your point on Blizzard’s attitude to content though, they just keep slapping new islands and continents onto the map, downright abandoning old areas, the “World of warcraft” is only the game’s title, because we spend 99% of the time in any given expansion on a very small part of said world.

And Cataclysm ruined a lot of beautiful areas for a quickly-forgotten (And by now utterly obsolete) levelling revamp.

Because, now classic entered the cata era its not classic anymore and the whole point of classic nostalgia ends with cata

This is true. However, I am looking forward to playing it. I think it needs to be rebadged as something else because plenty of people are looking forward to playing older expansions again as if they were the current content.

No. Classic is garbage untill late wolk when lfg was put into game. They should stop working on classic after mop and focus only on retail .

They should keep runing classic / wolk / mop era realms and then just do retail.

I play both modes, pretty sure some are doing the exact same thing.

If they combined all of Retail and Classic, Hearthstone, CoD and all other games, to work on Retail, they be massive compared to now…
