I can understand there being some ‘epic boss speeches’ and such in raids. That’s completely fine.
I also realize that in many PvE events and such, some speech stuff can add atmosphere and be informative.
But holy cow, these SCREAMING NPCs just do not belong to PvP. They’re only annoying. You hear the same, exact speech or scream thousands of times, it kinda starts to become a hellish annoyance.
Whose bright idea was it to make SS anyway, I don’t know. But to INCLUDE a screaming NPC in the beginning, and who never shuts up, even AFTER we have won the BG, the NPC still screams about how we should be grabbing the supplies quickly. It breaks the immersion!
Is this what Blizz really wanted? That we should constantly be bombarded with the most annoying sounds? Has anyone played arenas lately? The newer the arena or BG, the more screaming there is. Completely unnecessary, completely annoying.
You can of course mute the ‘dialog’, but that also mutes the PLAYER dialog, like laughs, ‘charge’, ‘forthealliance’ and all.
Speech and sounds, music and other audio loses its meaning if there’s never any silence. We need SILENCE to appreciate the hopefully a bit more RARE speech moments.
Also, why make spirit healer INSULT you and be the most annoying thing since the screaming NPCs in arenas and BGs? The Vol’dun spirit healer is just some ghetto thug instead of someone highly-leveled entity, angelic divinity doesn’t really radiate from him. Why even ‘appropriate culture’ that way? Why even put some ghetto-thug with an ACCENT into the game at all?
Blizz seems to be more interested in creating fart and poop jokes (so many of them in the game - I got some toy that simply makes a fart noise - what the heck is that? Not very sophisticated!) than actually improving things or making the gameplay experience pleasant and good.
Remember, the player has to see, hear and experience the same things over and over again, so silence is GOLDEN, audio gets really old really fast if you have to hear the same audio constantly.
What might be ‘funny’ or ‘seem good’ on paper and in a pitch meeting, when heard only ONCE, becomes a grating annoyance in the long run in the game, where the dev doesn’t have to hear it constantly, but the player does.
Also, what’s up with adding unnecessary irritating sounds of ‘the real world’? The game is supposed to be ESCAPISM! I live near an airport, so I have to use earplugs all the time. When I come to relax in a game, especially a FANTASY game (that absolutely shouldn’t have ‘skidoo’ sleds or harley bikes, either, but it does, because kids love noise?), I sure as !@%#* do not expect to have to listen to the same airplane noise all the time (ever tried being in Boralus or Vol’dun for a long time and listen to the background sounds? There’s suddenly this flying, polluting air machine that makes a horrible airplane sounds, so there’s no peace and quiet anywhere anymore)
WHY bring that ‘real-world-annoyance’ into the game? It doesn’t add anything good, it doesn’t improve gameplay, it doesn’t help in any way, it just DISTRACTS and DISTURBS to have to hear that crap all the time.
Come on, Blizzard, give SILENCE a chance!
(Or at least give us a button to mute the NPCs separately, and the airplanes and other ‘engines’ separately, that would work for me)
