Just know that her motherboard didn’t set it automatic. resulting it trying to run the overclocked ram with under 0.95v which is too little for her ram and cause instability.
If it does not freeze in other games especially more demanding games it shouldn’t in World of Warcraft either, anyway i suspect its a Asus issue if its a hardware issue, they have the worst memory compatibility just odd its not an issue on linux
64 gb at 3600 may be pushing it i would test memory at those speeds with wide range of memtest suites not just one, running it at 3200 is probably fastest way to check if it impacts freezes i could never get it to stop freezing except on Linux so i hardly believe its a memory issue or hardware issue at all at this point cos that would effect all games more or less not just wow
Dropped it to 3400 in bios
It still froze, but it was much slower to start the lockup process which was super weird
Dropped it to 3200 , still froze
Turnt up D.O.C.P (amd xmp)
Still froze
Just did EZ tuning suite
Can’t wait for it to still freeze
Getting beyond a joke tbh
If it wasn’t for the fact I’m lazy I’d be going hammer and tong on the AMD forums and other channels
Yeah if gone thru a lot of testing to know what wont fix it, the only thing if not tested is another cpu and motherboard and i am 100% sure it will keep freezing, cos this in theory you and many others already tested for me its not like we all run the same motherboard.
anyway 228 days now without devs recognizing this issue i already uninstalled this is indeed a joke.
However having 2x 32 gb at ddr4 3600 i would still do some test to make sure its stable even if running without xmp does not cause freezes the limit usually is at ddr4 3800 with 32 gb of ram on ryzen 5000 series and the new stepping can sometimes do ddr4 4000 but its super rare you need golden sample cpu like winning the lotery.
I suspect if i did dxvk for world of warcraft on which it runs via linux there is a chance it stops freezing as well especially if its AMD driver related.
You can find dxvk on github you put the dx files bassicly in game folder but i am not sure if blizzard is oke with this, i would however avoid the dxvk with async compute
Asus and some others have released agesa 1.2.0.A thru bios update which adresses the EDC bug incase you use PBO and apply it from bios it may defiantly help stability but i am having doubts this will fix it.
No fix yet
Really intermittent, went away for a while then had 2 freezes yesterday
Changed some stuff in bios. C-control ? and set voltage to 1.35v
This seemed to make things run faster, maybe placebo - but it resets back to 1.1v on restarts / shutdown so it won’t save? lol
Just tired of it
edit
after making this reply I updated the bios. I didn’t realise I hadn’t updated it as I misunderstood chipset driver updates
Still didn’t fix the issue
Trying to put manual SoC and CPU voltage @ 1.3v and every time I restart , or turn PC OFF-ON again, it resets to 1.08v
Very frustrating
Build runs hotter, noticeably hotter at 1.3v but yet to have a freeze with it set to that
Edit-2
Small update
In the bios. I set it to normal in the top right hand corner, instead of the asus auto tuned ‘Optimal’ ? setting
I think this is what could have been resetting the manual voltage setting every restart
Have had the PC set for 1.3v, with armory crate showing the voltage as 1.296v for the last two days, no resets and playing Lost Ark & BF2042
The CPU used to run at aroudn 40C. but now sits at 45C Idle after being on for a while, 50C gaming, and can get to 60C in longer sessions, which doesn’t concern me too much
Is 1.3v safe for the Ryzen 5900X? I’m going to assume it is but if anyone could confirm I’d appreciate it
Still haven’t made a post elsewhere lol
Was thinking of downloading Ryzen Master and actually been bothered to get some sort of safe OC going but idk, I’m still very lazy at the moment
Do not bother trying to fix this by doing stuff in bios, you can try play on Linux or in theory if you used dxvk on wow that would possibly help to especially if its a AMD radeon driver issue, regardless its real shame Blizzard does not adress this as you are paying customer, heck im depressed they haven’t even tried helping me.
Leave voltages on auto you gonna damage something, chip regulates it voltage by it self.
Just be on the latest bios preferably the one with agesa 1.2.0.A or the one that comes after since AMD is patching an new exploit very soon.
Using dxvk to fix it might be only option just do not use the async one.
AMD often shoves issues under a rug while being aware of issues, most players that play wow only play wow so they probably just intentionally broke it and left it like that to piss players off into playing more other games so they get data and diagnostics to fix their drivers or whatever, my next GPU is probably gonna be an NVIDIA probably, AMD had their chance so did Blizzard can for all i care choke on my money.
Further update for anyone following or interested
Disabled iCUE on a bit of a whim, by turning it off as a start-up app
Been 3 days and haven’t had a single freeze / Lockup
Did a google and there seems to be some history with iCUE freezing peoples systems
Hopefully not coincidental and was the culprit Touch wood
Eh I did do some research and 1.3v seemed fine, was only for a few days iirc and everything is still fine
