Have issues with flickering ground or sometimes whole screen, most notably in some Outland regions, but also happens at SW trade square, etc. Flickering happens in inconsistent intervals, ranging from a few seconds to minutes, happens both while moving and standing still.
RTX 2080ti, all drivers up to date, res. 1920x1080 144 Hz.
First I thought my monitor was broken, but thankfully it’s a WoW issue.
This is a corruption in the Shader Cache of your Graphic Card, happening when the game is updated. Unfortunately, it happend quite often those times since launch is requiring a lot of updates to fix bugs and balance things. If you have an Nvidia Card, you can do the following:
Got to C:/Users/YourUserName/Appdata/Local/Nvidia/DXCache
Delete all files in here while no program is running (else it wont allow you to destroy those associated to this program)
This will reset to 0 your Graphic Card shader cache and force games to rebuild them the first time it launch after that. Unfortunately, Shader cache files being named a bunch of numbers and letter, i really cant point out the specific one for Wow, if there’s one.
(To Access Appdata, you need to activate Show Hidden file in explorer options)
Really shocking Nvidia can’t seem to fix this even after 4 years or if this is just issue with game it self, i would switch back Nvidia if these issues did not exist cos im having driver issues on my AMD gpu especially in wow like gpu driver crashes and freezes, i guess its time to quit wow since they aren’t responding to my thread.
To our best of knowledge there isn’t one specific issue that causes these flickering effects, but rather a whole bunch of different conflicts (most of which are related to specific hardware/driver setups) that Nvidia has been fixing one by one. Unfortunately it also seems that some of the more recent driver releases “un-fixed” previously already addressed issues, which has caused a fair amount of frustration among affected players.
