Seal of fate, and how does it work?

I’m asking here as I don’t really dungeon/raid much. but I saved up all my little titanium residuum’s to get a nice helm (well, token so far, the 'Relinquished azerite helm.), and the vendor next to him sells the seal of wartorn fates.
So the question is, the seal gives you another option of an armour piece (right?), does it work on a bought item as well as a drop?

No, fraid not.

A Seal of Broken/Wartorn/Whatever Fate just gives you one extra chance at a drop from a boss you have just killed. It doesn’t do anything else.

Thank you Grainne.
You are my hero, AND have just saved me either 2k, or a whole stack of war resources.

*Edit - Ya-hay, got one of these - Flashpowder hood so I dont even need to transmog it.

I thought they were getting rid of extra rolls.

Maybe they’re dropping Seals in Shadowlands, but Seals for older expansions will remain, AFAIK.
