I would argue the opposite. Itâs still MMO, but the RPG part is far less relevant.
On a completely unrelated note, but Iâve been meaning to ask you. Have you seen any of the content on Monsters and Memories, a game in development? Itâs archaic in some ways (prehistoric one might say!) and intentionally so, for my boomer gamer generation But I thought perhaps you might like it too.
recycling content without making new content is bad game design. anyone who came up with the idea should be demoted immediately and blizzard must ensure a new raid and new dungeons are made. along with fixing of older issues like story plotholes, unfinished questlines (gilneas, night elf revenge, tauren arc etc)
literally coming next in two days
This is why I cut my 6 month sub down to 1 month.
Fated seasons as a planned feature are atrocious and idk any other way to telling Blizzard how I feel except not paying for the game during them. I encourage anyone else dissatisfied with season 4 to take a break too. If enough people do it, it will be the last planned fated season ever and just maybe we can return to proper Legion cadence, rather than the disingenuous release frequency we had in DF.
By the time theyâve announced the next expansion, the current expansion is pretty much âdeadâ in terms of excitement.
Iâd rather they quickly mix up together a 4th recycled season, rather than spend the effort to create a new ârealâ season with a raid/dungeon/zone/story and delay the next expansion even more.
In the past, instead of a recycled season we would have just had a 10-month final patch with literally zero new content until the prepatch.
Hopefully next expansion itâs just 3 normal seasons and prepatch after that.
I spent a lot of time playing other games during SL season 4âŚ
Sure, fated was better than continuing 9.2 for another few months, but it wasnât as good as another raid tier would have been.
Fingers crossed people vote with their wallets and all take breaks when DF S4 comes around. Only language Blizzard will understand.
I donât mind the fated recycle seasons. Itâs a great way for existing players to experience all the raids that expansion offered (which wouldnât happen if S3 would be the last season, as noone runs VOTI & Aberrus), and itâs a good way for new players to come in. Itâs also a âjokeâ season, which means you can waste your time by just doing things you missed out on during earlier seasons.
If that doesnât suit you, you can just unsub and stop playing for the time being. Nothing wrong with that. I can assure you though, that S4 in SL was a success by metrics, otherwise they wouldnât make it again in Dragonflight.
With that out of the way, Iâd actually prefer this pace that we have now, meaning seasons rotate on 5-6 months basis, meaning expansions roll out faster, rather than the usual 2 year cycle.
Well we have had them since vanilla but back then people called them tiers exactly the same thing.
They said pre DF this will a filler and rebuild expac so what you expect.
Some of you whine about everything if you hate the game so much do us all a favour and unsub spare us the endless negativity.
Its the same people thread after thread being negative , its getting boring to read and it is not good for the soul.
Just checked out the site and it sounds pretty interesting the way theyâre approaching the design side of it, but I really donât like the aesthetics, and given that one of the most important pillars of an MMORPG is that you want to explore its world⌠well, thatâs unfortunate. It looks low fidelity, which is fine though not great, but the real nail in the coffin for me the world looks cheaply crafted. I could tell right off the bat I just didnât really care about exploring it.
One of the things that made WoW so special was how immersive the environment was and, above all else, how varied it was. Depending on which race you picked youâd start out in totally different environments and the atmosphere was incredible.
Some people might call me too focused on graphics, but it really is important to me. These guys need a better producer.
EDIT: The more I look at it, the more it appears to have all the problems that vanilla WoW fixed. Itâs trying to be Everquest. Which is their stated goal so fair enough!
at least they could have designed a 1-2 boss fight raid. currently in wotlk they did icc and now they can raid ruby sanctum. in bfa we had the storm raid in kultiras âŚ
Itâs a passion project, and itâs quite early, theyâre working on a proof of concept so itâll be years before any launch hehe. But even if you donât like the game itself, you might like the ideas behind it and the way the devs work on it and what kind of experience they want to offer.
I suppose we have all learned to feed off scraps because daring to demand they earn the subscription is too much. I will be letting my sub run out in a few days.
War Within will prove whether this lazy content recycling was justified in exchange for an expansion designed with passion and competence or if they know that if the cattle isnât moved when the meadow is bare, theyâll eat the dirt and be just as content.
I agree, they are asking us to vote on which recycled tier set we get to use to do the recycled raids with no new content. I also agree about the seasonal thing, making previous content obsolete, making previous items obsolete all as part of the design is just terrible.
Why should I play a S4, what is interesting about a S4? There is no novelty, no new content, just recycled stuff. It seems like itâs probably better to take a break until the next expansion, play classic or just some other game in the meantime.
As someone who likes to enjoy content outwith the current expansionsâ, I actually donât mind this tbh. Gives me the peace of mind to focus on other things instead of getting caught up in the fomo of a new season and whatnot.
I do, I do.
Possibly working on the upcoming expansions. Bigger teams arenât always more productive, either. It can lengthen decision making and approval processes, introduces waiting for other departments to get their stuff done, requires more coordination, etc. Small teams tend to be more effective.
The upside of recycled content is that it makes it easier to cut down on WoW time and catch up on other games, shows, books, etc.
after 15 years? sorry for not caring much now for a mini zone and a mini questline.
what is the current activity in SOD?
