It would actually demotivate me from playing.
Why bother collecting those sets if anybody can get them at any time?
Class design wasn’t the same, balance wasn’t the same, the meta wasn’t the same, nothing was the same.
Those seasons are gone, and those sets shouldn’t be brought back.
People can collect the current ones, it’s fine.
You can only earn 1 token per character, and for reaching a higher rating. The majority of players can’t even hit 1800. So I wouldn’t worry too much about gatekeeping old set recolours.
I can see your point, like if you didn’t play that season then why should you get it, and there will be rarer sets out there… but the rarest PvP items you can get imo, are the enchants/tabards/weapon transmogs. With inflation, the normal sets of gear in the current season are actually rarer than the 1800 set because you’d have to buy each item. You can get 1800 in 1 session, unlocking that seasons Gladiator set in full greens.
90% of PvP tabards look like garbage.
The weapons are unremarkable, nobody even notices they’re Elite appearances, if people use them at all.
Only the illusions and the armor sets truly stand out. And if you start giving away one thing (elite sets) today, then you open the way to also give everything else eventually.
Its not exactly ‘giving away’ the sets… The tokens could be a 2200 reward.
That’s not the problem.
When something is advertised as being a time limited reward, then it should be just that, because otherwise you have deceived your customers.
Those sets were never meant to be introduced later.
You may ask the next elite sets to work like that if you want to change the system, sure.
But the old ones shall remain unobtainable.
Fair. So a 4th season you get a token to choose any of the 3 sets you might have missed out on in the rest of the expansion. Rather than the vote.
99% of people don’t care about mogs of others. 99% of people can’t indetify the items you’re wearing. Therefore, you aren’t flexing on other people with your ancient elite PvP set or an ancient AotC mount. Nobody cares.
It only matters to you because you had to perform well enough to get it back then. That’s why it matters to you and that’s why you think you’re “flexing” on others.
If there is a token for an elite set from previous seasons that is locked behind winning 50 games above 1800 rating (same progression as Vicious Saddle) you’re not really “giving away” the sets, you’re just creating an incentive for new players to grind PvP at higher rating.
Why can’t you create new incentives instead of giving away old rewards?
Just add new ones instead. Those Elite sets are already recolors, ask for another recolor if you want.
I sent a ticket to Blizzard asking them to adress this ‘‘issue’’, this is what they answered:
I’ve taken a look into this and I believe that currently there are no known issues with this specific feature. Taking this in consideration, we are currently unable to make any changes regarding this. Also, I hope you understand that we Game Masters can’t provide hints of the game. If we give all the answers to players, it may take away some of the fun! On the other hand, please feel free to search for this on Wowhead. Here you can find some additional information and some suggestions/troubleshooting steps on the comments from other players that might have managed to find a solution or workaround.
