Every S4 revival catalyst guide on the internet claims that revival catalyst can be used with the following gear:
PvP Gear (Ranked / Unranked / Epic War Mode Gear);
Veteran Rank PvE Gear (Loot from Mythic Dungeons / Awakened Raids / Loot from Dragonflight World Bosses / PvE Outdoor Gear).
I just completed my weekly quest, and 3 world events that it required and got 5 piece of S4 gear: 4 ilvl 480 Veteran pieces and 1 ilvl 493 piece. None of them work with revival catalyst.
In s3 all gear acquired from Emerald Dream events work with Revival Catalyst, so I am confused, especially since just like in s1 and s2, there is 0 indication in game which items can or cannot be used with it. For every single piece of gear I get I have to fly to Tyrhold to check if I can convert it before I can upgrade it, just to make sure I won’t miss out on a Tier transmog? Is this really intended?
I’ve also posted about this. Seems like blizzard did a 180 from S3 that it’s just like S2 only gear with the label Awakened is eligible to use at the Catalyst
It’s really disappointing, it’s been fun to get involved in the seasons knowing that you’ll still get your tier set - even if you’re a lower power level. I’ve just simmed my character/s and just losing my S3 tier is not worth the ILVL upgrade from the world gear, and it’s gonna be to be even more difficult to get tier solely in LFR. I hope they change it back for the rest of S4 - or at least TWW - but if they don’t I’m just gonna catch up on my renown and wait for Pandamonium.
Doubt that-. Got a helm 506, hero track 1/6 from Black Temple which ain’t working with the catalyst.
But a cloak 499 champion track 3/8 from world boss works…
I just finished TW. Got a 493 from a boss and a 506 from the raid quest crate reward, both marked as timewarped. I could only use the 493 on the catalyst so maybe it’s bugged, idk.
Yeah i’m the same. I got a hero track shoulders from the timewalking box from doing black temple. Can not be upgraded thru the catalyst. And yet the cape I have FROM BLACK TEMPLE that is champion gear, can be upgraded. That makes alot of sense huh.
The catalyst is working again!
I was able to use it on the 460 gear I got for outdoor world content, now that they have put the Dreamsurge and Time Rift vendors in.
Weirdly enough, I could not use it on my champion piece of gear from the weekly
Also, it gave me 2 different tier appearances. 467 boots from Time Rifts gave me the Aberrus look; 467 Legs from Dreamsurge gave me the “voted for” appearance of the Incarnates.
I have no idea what’s going on there but still, it was a bug, hurray!
Just logged in to try and none of the drops I’ve got since S4 launch van be used un the catalyst. So perhaps only drops you got after the “fix” wich sucks if it is like that.
This is the attitude which makes the game to lose more players. Gate keeping items is not the right way. Let people play how they want. Give the players a reason to come online.
I agree, whatever is the intention here and what are bugs, i’d like official word on what the idea is here, i have a Champion-track helmet from a weekly quest that can’t be used with catalyst, which is a big let-down because LfR only drops Veteran-track gear.
I also noticed when checking in the vault that LfR-slots give 480-gear, while heroic (dungeon) slots give 489 gear, will 5-man heroic gear from vault be usable in catalyst? (If not, that would be a real let-down)
Tested it out today with an alt by doing the Awakened outdoor and Last Hurrah and indeed, only items AFTER the fix that you get from it is eligible for the Catalyst
Way to discourage diving into content when it’s new, better wait out the first 5 days or so, so Blizz can iron out the “Wish they had a testing department”-blunders, first.
It evens out in a week or two, but it’s a lousy start, nonetheless…
