Look, I get that respecting every players progress in a big MMORPG can be hard… But how the hell did Blizzard fail to give all people that played during Shadowlands unique dialogue with the Brokers in Tazavesh?
We (those that played during SL) are literally the Maw Walker. It makes 0 sense they don’t recognize us, the player, in any way.
Just to be clear! I’m not saying the story itself is bad.
Wouldn’t be that hard to write some code to check if you ever completed the Tazavesh dungeon(s) on your character and then have some alternate voice lines.
But alas, putting in effort for story details was apparently not worth the sub money.
Exactly for this lackluster thinking the game dropped in story quality.
I’m mostly just curious why Sylvanas have to punch a hole in the sky to go to the Shadowlands when its denizens can clearly just visit the realm of the living openly?
I really really dislike seeing shadowlands NPC’s beyond brokers here, I had hoped it was an asset flip because story changes were planned too at too short a notice but no, we’re looking at actual individuals that shouldn’t even exist in the realm of the living just causally walking around.
Sadly the season really begins only on 12.8 once m+ and pvp season 3 begins so technically it is not even fully out yet. 6 more days for us who play rated.
I was wondering like how we get on Karesh. Its its completly different planet surely there will be something more then just teleport showing up and bum you are in different part of universe. Well Blizzard disapointed once again. Introduction quests were so basic i just can’t. Imagine do undermine then some arcane dude tells you that some dudes trying to manifest void lord champion, come with me on this other planet to stop him just step in into this random teleport in Dazalor. Like what just happened?
Yeah, I was also put off by seeing Venthyr in Tazavesh.
You mean the very forced joke that doesn’t come across naturally? You mean that one?
Honestly, that line was basically a setup without punchline.
What would have been a more natural joke in my opinion would have been the admission steward to be like “… or worse, the Maw Walker to return…”, then he looks at us, the player (if you completed Tazavesh dungeon) and is like “Wait… I recall a description of your appearance. YOU ARE THE MAW WALKER!” and then goes on about something like “I hope this time you don’t cause a mess. Do you have any idea how much paper work that would be for me?”
That’s for me a joke because it:
Picks up on the “set up” line of the Maw Walkers return
Further dives into the Stewards complaints about formalities and paperwork from the “stay a while and listen” in that spot
Everyone HATES paperwork.
And on top of that, citizens could have reacted to us, the Maw Walker, coming to their aid for once as well. We have a quest line where we have to save civilian Brokers and all they do is a /e emote in the emote channel and F-off into the void of phasing out of existence.
Clearly Blizzard couldn’t be bothered as well to write some recognition dialogue like “Never thought the Maw Walker would save me one day” or something.
The ONLY NPC that recognizes our Shadowlands interaction is the NPC from the Tazavesh dungeon itself and he has only like 1-2 dialog brackets about what happened since then.
Yeah, it really was some “Somehow Palpatine returned” type of
Next they gonna say we can easily travel to Argus still… Oh, wait… They did that as well in the Man’ari Penitent story line. How far the industry giant has fallen.
I am disappointed that I have been pronouncing Dimensius wrong all these years.
Yeah it did feel a bit lame that the npcs didn’t remember me as a maw walker. Maybe the feeling is mutual, I don’t remember much of the Shadowlands either.
When TWW released, it was obvoius that the Light worshiping Arathi should lorewise be reluctant to work with certain races or classes. So Blizzard made things like this quest: https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/Prove_One%27s_Mettle
specifically to adress that problem and make the story somewhat believable.
This could have also been done here - for example, there could be a special “atonement” quest for people who have completed this quest: https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/Tazavesh:_Raiders_of_the_Lost_Artifact
or even just some different dialog options.
It’s not like Blizzard doesn’t do things like this - so I believe its fair to expect them to be consistent with such things.
