Hunters are subject to change, for example traps using in combat.
The problem are not fixes and continuous improvement for all classes, the problem is the impatience and false expectations of players. Not only in SoD, in general.
They AI tested it I guess. Simply put they didn’t wanted to launch any beta testing and we are now doing that job for them.

actually playing Warsong lvl 19. No classes could survive the Explosive shot… the nerf is justified
- The Explosive Shot rune ability has been redesigned and its damage dramatically decreased. Each time it deals damage, it now damages all enemies within 8 yards of the primary target.
Single target damage is now equal to box of kittens. If that was the intention, well done. 70% less… unplayable…
Yes, nerf was needed, but not this The ability makes no sense now…
With the new nerf hunter feels same as in regular classic, just that your arcane shot is instead a tiny bit better shot that costs less mana.
hunters already have multishot , volley, explosive, the new aoe melee rune, the aoe serpent sting rune - why would they need ANOTHER aoe (that shares cd with aimed shot)?
becuase they dont play the game, thats why, the have no clue what they are doing.
Reverse the explosive shot change… We don’t want a AoE explosive shot. There is legit no point in taking the rune anymore, Chimera just does more damage and has weapon scaling unlike ES.
Fundamentally it is bad design to replace spells 2 days after launch. Classic was not supposed to be balanced, just fun. Let hunters have their fun, warriors and rouges will outscale us eventually anyways.
So, out of curiosity, i just logged Warsong with my 14 lvl hunter that has green items.
There was lvl 10 warrior and mage against me. To them, the explosive did 9-10 damage per tick - so in total 30 per usage - what a joke. The AoE aspect of the ability is useless in Warsong…
as a mage i can’t cast against that Explosive shot that hit every ~0,2s
so a caster was a free kill for hunter
As playing a hunter I understand that Explosive shot was OP. However the current situation is that the entire class has been over-nerfed. An 8yd AoE with the current damage output is quite literally useless. The current Sniper training setup is just as bad. Melee hunters with traps are still not a thing… for me personally it took away the fun and excitement for SoD.
Hopefully Blizzard will re-evaluate and see that they are destroying more than they are gaining with these changes.
Just macro it when you get feign death combined with petpassive.

There is a difference between adjusting a broken ability and completely nerfing it to the ground and taking away the joy.
Blizzard devs can’t go one day without flexing their incompetence, why not start with fixing what’s actually broken like the whole melee rotation instead of rolling out nerfs while there hasn’t been extensive end-game gameplay.
It is 2005~9 all over ?- keep nerfing hunters to the point it will pointless to play the class in SoD … at least ranged/pet spec is now become as weak as classic era
The problem is u nerfed the Explosive shot way too badly now it is usefull with low level dungeons/adds to farm cloth/loots etc
and chirma shot is nerfed too but mana still high to be used
please stop making the same mistakes you did with SoM when leveling/rewarding was not good that ended up with a lot of people dropping that season. The fixes came very late to safe it.
a 25% nerf was reasonable to the ES
but a 80~90% nerf and turn into an AoE farming ability ? ?
I don’t want other classes to be nerfed -
I want to enjoy another classs …but such nerfs cut my plan short , leaving me with just watching other streamers discovering the season for me while I do another stuff and enjoy my old trust classic era server with my already high leveled hunter without having to re-do all the slow and hard leveling
The thing is that yes changes takes time but also sometimes changes are very late and never. I been in that situation before (bus-shock incident). I would love sometimes they inform that we are working on this and that. That would atleast calm people down.
And i know how community is, they cry on nerfs and rather want there class be op.
I have no demands for balance perfect. I like playing off-meta spec pre SoD like melee hunter and tank shaman. But now i looked forward to some new gameplay for melee hunter. I have 0 intrest in other hunterspecs and will preobebly focus 100% on shaman tank untill ore if flanking strike is fixed. As it is now it’s so wierd how they build it.
Flanking strike hits the target with 100% weapon dmg (you and your pets) on a 30 sec CD and hit hits like wet noodles. It gives a buff for 10 Sec that increase RS and MB dmg with 10% and stacks 3 times. So maximum 30%. But RS can reset Flanking strike CD (20% chance). But RS being on a 6 sec cd means you have 1 chance to reset Flanking during its buff cd. So getting 2 is extreamly hard, almost imposible. You wont ever get 3 stacks…
hunters are still really strong even nerfed
