I stopped playing mid phase2 because pvp became ultra horrible.
Won’t lie, it’s very funny to read the forums and reddit about SoD.
90% of the players are unhappy and keep playing
90% ? It’s like 10-15 regular forum contributors that are whining all day long.
Not sure about 90%,
i haven’t played a single second of phase 4,
many quit after p1, many quit after p2 and a lot quit during p3,
im sure some came back for the 60 content, but i think in general people have had enough with SOD,
personally, sod has made me realise how good vanilla and TBC was, and hopefully we can do again with fresh servers in the future, i can see it happening once SOD has run its course, which honestly…i dont think is that far away.
problem is unless then balance things (and they wont), tbc will be same joke as classic is atm
To be honest, looking back.
TBC was actually not a good PVP expansion.
Many classes were still incomplete and a few spec dominated arena.
And the arena was usually a boring drain fest.
I dont want TBC again, without proper changes and balancing,
true, sheep slaves
again, some ideas in the game are cool, but horribly implemented
nothing is balanced, repetitive boring grind
and the community made it 10 times worse
PvP is always horrible.
But nice to see that they are leaving.
Forums are a very vocal small minority inside a bigger minority of committed players. The main object of disappointment here is PvP, which is something regular players almost never do. So the whines generally have little correlation with the number of players and sub count
Gotta love people judging the game when they haven’t played it in months.
P4 is actually quite fun, much better than the other phases. There is a lot of content, PvP still has issues but it’s not as bad as it used to be. We finally get to play with the full kit of talents and spells. I was sceptical since I stop during P3 but so far I’m happy with P4.
I was also wondering if the server would revive since it was pretty dead the past few weeks but for now Living Flame is booming. It might not last long but if you guys enjoyed SoD I’d recommend giving it a shot now.
True. I don’t play SoD anymore either but the forum is a hoot for sure.
Simple issue, SoD was presented in there own words at Blizzcon, as a season where “Everyone will feel overpowered”. They even had a slide about not nerfing warriors and instead making everyone more powerful.
But what did we get? Season of trash balance, warriors nerfed to actually be worse than they where in Vanilla, new class combos they said would be cool new additions have been abandoned and some have not been even close to viable the entire season.
They said they would not focus on PvP balance and in favour focus on making cool new changes that work in PvE. But we keep getting balances changes based on PvP anyway, even though PvP is busted but these changes ruin the PvE capabilities of the classes.
Sure some people will always be happy and call other out for whining, some classes have been consistently good enough. But some have been Best one day, worst the next.
This season was advertised as a classic experience with a more casual feel, old content made fresh and easier with overpowered new abilities.
So yeah most people quit, servers have been merged to try and keep up the idea of good population, and many of us are sitting here falling into the sunk cost fallacy. So yeah, feel free to waste time reading forums for a game mode you don’t play, arguably worse than the us trying to get through to the devs to make simple changes that could at least help but they arrogantly turns us down because an entire player base of upset players and most people having quit still isn’t enough for them to realise they screwed up at every turn.
If pvp is your thing, and balancing is important,
Stay far far away from SoD,
The best class balancing in pvp you’ll find is CATA and probably retail,
And if fresh vanilla/tbc servers get released in the future, you can watch from the sidelines😊
i understand a lot of players quit over the phases since SoD went live and yes it has its ups and downs. but what a vast majority forgets here is that the entire SoD is a huge PTR for future SoD game modes. in a intervieuw a while in phase one they have said they are planning to do future SoD game modes for the plans they cant implement now. they got lots of ideas on the table but cant put them all in. so maybe when SoD 2.0 hits it will get better and we get things that will make players more happy. or what they learn now is good for the classic+ aka WoW 2.0 players are asking for for a long while now. for now SoD is a experiment for future game modes and you either like it or you dont. i for one enjoy it even tho it got a lot of flaws

They lost me with the introduction of incursions(retail event style dogsh*t). On release that event was bonkers goldwise, people did thousands, people running through delivery quests and maxing out characters like a joke.
What is this kind of event doing on a CLASSIC server?
