For survivability it’s haste > mastery yes. Vers is only better than mastery if you have poor Consecration uptime.
I think you two were contributing nicely to this thread. You made a point and Ellipsis elaborated upon it, for the benefit of others. I don’t think it was meant as an explanation to you.

Shamans stack Versatility. So its useful in PvE as well.
In fact, if it wasent because PvP gear has ilvl restrictions tied to Rating, PvP gear would probably be BiS gear for RShamans.

Resto BiS stats are crit-vers. I personally feel confortable with ~20% crit. And the rest to vers.
For PvE. For PvP it might be something else. So better check.
