I am asking because I have the goggles on pretty much all the time and keep picking up secret fish but the infamous Travelling Goby still hasn’t appeared,
BUT: sometimes there is a secret fish I cannot interact with. The cursor prompt is there, but when trying to pick it up, nothing happens. And I am wondering whether those would be the last remaining fish.
What are your experiences?
Hey mate. Got me a few days to get one, can’t remember which one. Ended up going to Dalaran and on one of the floating islands use the goggles. 30 mins later I was done.

Ah, yes, I used that island to get the fish you can only acquire while dead. But once I got it, I moved on.
You must have been lucky. The regular fish are piling up in my bank, from all the collecting on the side.
Maybe there’s some kind of logic that requires many picks at the same location. Although I read on wowhead that some people got it after maybe the 6th pick at one spot.
