Seeking Advice

Hi Guys

I’ve been a casual player bouncing between classes and I finally made a warlock which I think is brilliant as its so unique and cool. I leveled as destruction and I’m now lv 70 with item level 499.

I’m wanting to now play the class better, so I’ve looked at Wowhead for rotations/enchantments and and the ‘Details’ dps meter etc.

First question, its a learn to play ability I know but the Havoc ability choice. I’m not great at the moment of always applying it every 30 secs to a second mob, then swapping back to the priority target (I have setup the mouse over macro mouse click to help). The alternative node choice is the +30% chance to proc damage. I get that Havoc is the clear choice for highest damage but given its 30 sec cooldown and the passive will keep on trying to proc, does anyone know how much dmg you loose if you pick the passive option?

Second question, on a training dummy at item lv 499 roughly speaking what damage would you expect to see?. I’m getting approx 300K and an arms warrior I have at the same item level is pulling 500K. So am I doing seriously wrong or, classes just do more damage with the same item level.

Third question: In LFR raids or mythic dungeons (+4 is my max) my pets die really fast, so the option to use their most powerful ability or maybe sacrifice them for a HP shield is gone. Any tricks to keep your pets alive? I tried the health funnel but the mobs seems to instant die.

Last question, I’ve watched a few videos of warlock in TWW, it looks incredible but I dont fully understand all the implications of the abilities. How are you feeling about the beta atm?

does anyone know how much dmg you loose if you pick the passive option?

Also something I’d love to know the answer to. I’m determined to finally level a Warlock, but I know I’d absolutely mess up trying to micromanage Havoc.

To give you a accurate valuating people would need more details.
Such as how long are these fights on trainning dummys? And does your warrior have the legendary, but that would contribute alot of damage as most of arms spells goes off also weapon damage and not purely AP, like casters who only get SP as a contributer.
Another big factor is if the target dummy you are hitting is in execute. Warriors do one have of the biggest dps amps from that and warlocks has none.

But the simplest way of knowing if you are doing well is to sim via raidbots.

Hi

Thanks Guldone, I didn’t know about raid bots and the lock and warrior simmed the same at 257K. I’ll also swap about with Havoc and it should give me a difference to know if the passive is good enough.
