Hardcore is 90% perfect. Its 10% imperfection lies in deaths caused by disconnections.
What would you think about fixing that 10% with a ‘SEMI-HARDCORE’ server?
In a SEMI-HARDCORE server, if you die, your character isn’t deleted, but you lose all the gold and gear you have equipped and in your inventory.
The **bank** would become the most valuable resource, as you'd need to deposit gold and gear in case the worst happens.
YES! I’d love this - if we alongside could keep the normal Hardcore servers with the old rule of NO revives at all.
And even better if we could force-move anybody given a restore in the past wave to your new server. 
Because for me the Era HC servers were perfect. Now they are, as you so aptly state it, 90 % perfect. Those insufferable 10 % are for me people asking for - and now even actually getting a revive.
This is the reason I never played with the addon, loved the official HC servers, and now do not play any more.

Your new server would solve all these problems.
We got that already, called diablo 3, you can play that.

Thinking about it… Wouldn’t semi hardcore be as boring as semi strip poker?
Hardcore is playing Russian roulette.
Semi-hardcore would be strip poker.
What would you choose? 
The problem is as follows. The itch in hardcore is that you don’t know if you will ever reach the goal, i.e. lvl 60.
In semi hardcore, as you suggest it, your char is immortal, so he will reach lvl 60.
Concerning strip poker or semi strip poker: It does not matter. In both modes you will reach the goal, which is not strip poker but that what will happen after.
So I was wrong, hardcore and strip poker actually cannot be compared.
Depends entirely on who I’m playing with /against, I wouldn´t play Russian Roulette with my wife, nor would I play Strip Poker with Gallywix 
Playing against myself, which HC essentially is, Strip Poker is kinda boring…
